The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian Squad for the upcoming One Day International series against West Indies. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been named as the India captain for the three-match ODI series and Ravindra Jadeja will be his deputy.

The India tour of West Indies will begin from July 22 and all the three match will be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. With regular skipper Rohit Sharma being rested for the Indian vs West Indies ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan will lead men in blue.

And with this Dhawan will also become the seventh captain to lead Team India in last eight months. However, only Rohit Sharma is not being rested for the India tour of West Indies, but senior players Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will also not be a part of this ODI series. However, all of these player will play against England for the India vs England ODI and T20 series, starting tomorrow.

However, situations are growing tough on Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid for not having a stable leader at his side, there are possibilities that this might be a tactic of Dravid to try out different team combinations for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

After this India vs West Indies ODI series, India will also play five-match T20 series against the West Indies in the Caribbean and the United States. However, BCCI is yet to announce the squad for it.

Indian squad for IND vs WI ODI: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wicket keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket keeper), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.
