Avoiding a white wash in INDW vs SLW T20 series, Sri Lanka was successful in winning the last match, but they lost the series to women in blue by 2-1. Sri Lanka women thrashed the visitors by seven wickets in the third T20 match at Dambulla today.

Batting first, the Indian side was only able to put a low score of 139 runs on score board. And while chasing a low total, Sri Lankan players seemed much confident and with the help of skipper Chamari Athapaththu’s 80 off 48 balls, SL women won the match by seven wickets.

Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu’s counter-attack included 14 boundaries and one six. Moreover, she also became the first Sri Lankan cricketer to get to the 2000-run mark in T20 internationals. On the other hand, Tillakaratne Dilshan with 1889 runs is the highest run-scorer among Sri Lankan male cricketers.

The India vs Sri Lanka women T20 series started off with India defeating the hosts by 34 runs. Later the women in blue defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the second match and took a lead of 2-0 in the series.

But saving themselves from a whitewash SL successfully saved themselves from embarrassment and won the third match by 7 wickets. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu and Nilakshi de Silva’s 30 off 28 balls helped their side to reach to the target in just 15 overs.
