After getting slammed by several users including social media sensations Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian who have more than 650 million followers in total on Instagram for turning the photo-sharing application into a typical Tik Tik-like platform, the photo-sharing application now acknowledged all the complaints and decided to rollback some of the big features of reel features on the platform.

On Thursday, in order to take Instagram again back to its roots, the slogan sprang from a change.org petition that has been filed that had received more than 229,000 signatures. The petition has asked the social media platforms to go back to their original roots and mentioned that the main intention behind Instagram was to share photos.

While defending the updates on social media, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri also released a statement where he indirectly criticized the users for not adopting the developing culture photo sharing application. He said a lot of concerns about new updates on the platform have been raised that how fast it is shifting to video. He said, the platform will always support the photos culture, but it will become a video thing over time. We’re going to have to lean into that shift while continuing to support photos, Mosseri added.

Mosseri also mentioned that the idea behind the latest updates on Instagram is to help users to discover new and interesting things there that they might not even know to exist. Users can snooze all recommendations for up to a month, but the concerned team of the social media platforms will going to try new things so that it becomes better at recommendations.
