Four people have been sentenced to death for 2008 Jaipur serial blasts in which 70 people were killed, and over 170 injured. One of the accused was acquitted by the court.

The four convicts who received the death sentence are Sarvar Aazmi, Mohammad Saif, Saifur Rahman and Salman, while Shahbaz Hussain was set free.

The blasts took place in crowded Johari Bazaar, Hanuman Mandir, Hawa Mahal, at Badi Chaupad, Tripolia Bazar and Chandpole. The bombs were planted on cycles and cycle rickshaws.

The four were convicted for planting bombs. Shahbaz was an accused in all the eight cases under section 120 of the Indian Penal Code. The court didn’t find evidence to incriminate him besides his role in sending an email about the blasts being triggered. The prosecution failed to link him with the conspiracy.
