Keeping this condition in mind, the administration of Jammu7 and Kashmir had declared about 12 containment zones in the Union
Territory. It is due to an upsurge in Covid-19 cases. Recently, according to the official statements, the Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir have risen up to 588 cases.

What has been decided by the Jammu and Kashmir government?

Since there is an upsurge in Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has put strict restrictions in the Union Territory. The government had made it mandatory to follow all the COVID-19 protocols such as the proper wearing of masks, social distancing, and use of sanitizers. Also, it had reduced the unnecessary movement by the general public.

Besides this, the routine surgeries have been suspended by the Government Medical College (GMC) and associated hospitals. However, cancer and emergency surgeries are excluded from it.

What had been directed by the Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta to other officials?

Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta had chaired a meeting on Friday. This meeting was conducted to review the situation of Covid-19 in the Union Territory. Also, it has been conducted to order observance of strict Covid-19 protocols to reduce the rate of transmission. in Jammu and Kashmir.

Besides this, it has been directed to all the divisional and district administrations to ensure that there is foolproof enforcement of all COVID protocols and the SOPs.

Also, the chief has ordered to create an awareness campaign in Jammu and Kashmir on a mass scale. It will be organized to promote the district COVID helpline numbers established for medical assistance over the telephone.

The chief secretary had asked the Health and Medical Education Department to prioritize administering the booster doses in Jammu and Kashmir. The name of the campaign is Har Ghar Dastak.’
