The murder of a journalist Vimal Yadav, employed at Dainik Jagran, who was shot dead at his home in the early hours of Friday in the Araria district of Bihar, was allegedly carried out by four persons, according to Bihar Police. Four individuals showed up at his Raniganj home and opened fire on him, hitting him in the chest.

Two of the four people who were detained on Saturday, according to the police, were responsible for the murder of Vimal Yadav.

Based on Vimal’s father’s complaint, a case was filed. Four of the eight suspects identified in the FIR were arrested earlier today.

In 2019, the suspect also killed Vimal Yadav’s sibling. In that case, Vimal was the only witness, and he felt immense pressure to change his testimony.

Several people were disturbed by the murder, including Chirag Paswan, the head of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), who criticised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for failing to uphold law and order.

After expressing his sorrow at the murder in Araria, CM Nitish Kumar said, he had ordered officials to take immediate action soon after receiving the news.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Bihar Police, the murder showed that the deceased had a history of enmity with his neighbours, which could have led to the occurrence. Two years prior, Vimal’s brother was also killed in the same way. The late journalist had not yet testified in court against his sibling’s murderers.

Bihar Police announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the 35-year-old victim was a local journalist for the Dainik Jagran newspaper. Around 5:30 a.m., the burglars called his name and knocked on his door. When he opened the door, they shot him in the chest, according to the police.

According to the report, the police station chief arrived at the scene at around 05:35 and started an investigation. Superintendent of Police Araria also paid a visit.

Congress said, it seems like journalist might have asked her question when the price of sugar will drop at Rs 13, when the gas price will come down, or the silence over the injustice to women wrestler. The Union Minister replied that the Congress might tolerate the insult of the people of Amethi, but she could not and requested the journalist to not misbehave with the people of Amethi. It was a request the Congress might have not understand, congress could bear the insult of the people but she could not.

An attack continued, Smriti Irani challenged Congress to debate on every topic and not limited to sugar and gas. On Thursday, She launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and questions the kind of love by referring the massacred Sikh riot, she said insulting Sengol, boycotting Parliament and not speaking on ‘The Kerala Story’ shows the Congress stand.

Congress Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate replied to Smriti Irani’s clarification and said it was not right to threaten a journalist to call the owner in the guise of a request. The people of Amethi made up their mind and she also have got a hint of that, her fear could be seen.

After a video went viral, a journalist identified as a Vipin Yadav claimed to be associated with a particular media house turns out to be a fake, media house on Friday clarified that a journalist seen in a video is not associated with them since there is no reporter assigned in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.

As per reports, after the case of a Journalist being harassed by an auto-rickshaw driver came to light, the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) issued notice to Uber and Delhi police in the matter. As per reports, a Delhi-based journalist took to Twitter to her account of the molestation.

The DCW chief Swati Maliwal in a tweet wrote that a notice has been issued to Uber India and Delhi police in the case of molestation of a female journalist by an auto-rickshaw driver. The tweet also read that the notice issued sought the safety measures taken by Uber for women.

The victim is a Delhi-based journalist and took to Twitter to share her account of the unfortunate incident. As per the Tweet by the woman journalist, she said that she was traveling to Malviya Nagar and had boarded an auto through the Uber app after which the unfortunate incident unfolded.

However, things took an awry turn as the auto driver kept ogling at her through the mirror. The victim initially shifted and changed her seat so that she is not visible in the mirror, however, subsequently, the auto-rikshaw driver kept turning around to ogle at her.

Finally, after being frustrated by the accused’s action, the woman journalist confronted the man. However, even the threat by the victim telling the accused that she will raise a complaint didn’t faze the auto-rickshaw driver. According to the account of the woman, the Auto driver, when threatened that she will file a complaint, said to go ahead and do it.

As per reports, the victim has filed a complaint against Uber, an Uber driver to DCW. The victim has also lodged a complaint about several tweets that passed lewd remarks and victim-blamed her for what transpired.

It was also reported that the journalist is yet to lodge an FIR in the matter and will do it today according to her Twitter. The accused has been identified as Vinod Kumar.

A story has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur where a journalist got into a spat with the catering staff at a wedding he was attending. The spat escalated further as the catering staff beat the man to death on Monday.

The video of the incident has also come to light where a group of people can be seen chasing after the journalist, after which the journalist can be seen retaliating. The group of men can be seen fighting at the gate at the premise of the wedding.

The men, after fighting, can be seen closing the gate behind and then proceeding to go and assault the journalist. A commotion can be seen ensuing in the video, however, it can’t be identified where did the group of staffers beat up the journalist.

The victim has been identified as Swatantra Kushwaha, who works as a cameraman and is a resident of Rawatpur Village. According to reports, the man had a spat with the catering staff over serving hot food, after which the incident escalated and took a horrific turn.

The initial probe by the police suggest that the catering staff had a fight with the victim who fell on the ground which led to a head injury. After sustaining a head injury during the fight, the catering staff backed away and the journalist was rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.

The man succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment according to the statement by the police.

After learning about the incident, the police have filed a case, whereas 6 accused are arrested and have undergone questioning by the police. The police are investigating the matter further according to reports and they are also combing through the CCTV footages in and around the wedding venue.

A District Supply Officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya lost his cool on a question of a journalist who asked the official why lesser rations were being distributed among the beneficiaries.

The Uttar Pradesh’s District Supply Offices are often in news as many disputes happen here. A video of one such incident has gone viral on social media. In the video, the District Supply Officer (DSO) is seen losing his cool on the question of a journalist on allotting less ration to the beneficiary and starts insulting him saying run away, you are a thief (Chal Bhaag…… Tum Chor Ho).

After the video of this incident went viral, the District Magistrate has set up an investigation, while the DSO has said that he acted out of anger.

The reports said that Ujjwal Rajput, son of beneficiary of Dhangar village had reached the District Supply Office with a complaint about receiving less ration, some journalists were also present there. When the journalists asked the question why fewer rations were being given, the District Supply Officer (DSO) Devmani Mishra got enraged and lost his cool.

He began reprimanding the journalist by saying, “Chal Hatt…Bhag Ja….Tum Chor Ho”. The DSO then asked the journalist, who was also recording the video, to leave and shows him the gate.

However, when the video went viral on the social media platforms, there was panic in the entire department.

When asked about his behaviour, the DSO reportedly said that the journalist was ruining the atmosphere, due to which he got angry and acted in a bad manner.

In this matter, District Magistrate Prakash Chandra Srivastava says that the investigation of the matter has been given to ADM Finance and Revenue MP Singh, and the report will be sent to the government once the investigation was over.

Popular YouTuber Gaurav Taneja aka Flying Beast on Thursday announced via his Twitter handle that the Delhi High Court had ordered Live Mint, a subsidiary of Hindustan Times to remove all the Tweets and articles that were directed to defame the YouTuber and his family.

For those who don’t know, journalist Shepali Bhatt had put out an article on Live Mint claiming that Gaurav Taneja’s daily vlogs are often called out for misogyny, child abuse and political propaganda. This was after the YouTuber has tweeted a picture of himself with his wife and daughter performing a housewarming ritual.

In the tweet, Gaurav Taneja had also claimed that the Hindu ritual performing Havan or ‘Agnihotra’ purifies the air and also removes the pollutants. However, this claim was disputed by tweeple on social media.

Following that journalist Shepali Bhatt had written an article on Live Mint calling for popular brands like Airtel, Mama Earth, Google India, Tata Cliq and several others to disassociate from supporting the popular Flying Beats channel.

And now yesterday, Gaurav had put out a tweet informing his followers that he had filed Rs 2 crore defamation case against the website and the journalist. Not only that, the Delhi High Court had accepted Gaurav and his wife Ritu Rathee’s lawsuit seeking a permanent injunction against the financial newspaper Mint.

Moreover, thanking his legal team, the popular YouTuber and a former Air Asia pilot also slammed journalist Shepali Bhatt and her media house for peddling a vicious attack against him for his faith towards Hinduism.

Gaurav called out the journalist and her website on Instagram and Twitter and wrote, “Certain unethical journo peddle a vicious attack against me because some wear their identity badge proudly. Now all the articles and tweets by Shephali Bhatt are to be taken down as per Delhi High Court’s order. Such journos insult “Norms of Journalistic conduct””

Later in the day, the YouTuber also posted a story on his Instagram story saying that he has also been receiving death threats for his four years old daughter Kaira Taneja, who is a major part of his daily vlogs.

India’s wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha on Tuesday denied to reveal the name of the sports journalist who forced him for an interview. The controversy erupted after the Bengal cricketer shared screenshots of the journalist’s text messages.

The sources had earlier told that the BCCI secretary Jay Shah will certainly speak to Wriddhiman.

Speaking with the The Indian Express, Saha said that he would not reveal the identity of the journalist to the board because it was never his intention to harm somebody’s career, to pull a person down.

He hasn’t received any communication from the BCCI yet, Saha said. The main purpose of my tweet was to expose the fact that there’s someone in the media who does such things, disrespecting a player’s wish, Saha said.

Saha said he posted those tweets because he didn’t want the players to face such things. He wanted to convey the message that what has been done was wrong and no one else should do it again, he said.

Wriddhiman Saha has received an outpouring of support from cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shastri, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh and others after he shared a screenshot of messages that he received from a journalist following the Indian selection committee’s decision to drop him from the Test squad for the two-match home series against Sri Lanka.

Former Indian cricket team coach, Ravi Shastri asked the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to step in into the controversy, Ojha and Harbhajan urged Saha to public the name of journalist who threatened him messages.

A 37-year-old journalist and his friend died last week after they were set on fire with sanitizer by three men in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The three attackers, identified as Lalit Mishra, Keshvanand Mishra  alias Rinku  Mishra and Akram Ali were arrested after three days of the incident. One of the three accused Rinku  Mishra is the son of a village Pradhan.

On Friday, journalist Rakesh Singh Nirbhik who used to work for a Lucknow-based newspaper Rashtriya Swaroop, along with his friend Pintu Sahu, 34 were found with severe burn injuries inside Nirbhik’s house in a village in Balrampur. While Sahu was already dead, Nirbhik was taken to the hospital in Lucknow where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. 

Before dying, Nirbhik had told hospital officials that he had been writing regularly against the local village gram pradhan and her son over alleged corruption. He had recorded a 2.5 minute video in which while crying in pain, he can be heard saying this is the price for reporting the truth.

Dev Ranjan Verma, the Balrampur police chief, in a press conference on Monday told reporters that the attackers doused the victims in a hand sanitizer before setting them on fire. They tried to cover up the crime by making it look like an accident, but the loopholes made us understand this was a conspiracy.

The Balrampur police chief said there were two motives for the murders, one was Nirbhik’s journalism and the other was a property dispute between Pintu Sahu and Rinku Mishra. On November 27, both had an argument outside a beer bar and there was a fight. More people will be questioned and further arrests will be made if required, he added.

The four men, Atiq-ur Rehman, Siddique Kappan, Masood Ahmed and Alam were on way to Hathras to meet the family of 19-year-old Dalit woman who was brutally assaulted by four upper caste men. They were arrested over their alleged links with Popular Front of India or PFI, an outfit the Uttar Pradesh government wants banned in the state.

Siddique Kappan is a journalist and also the secretary of the journalists’ body’s Delhi unit who had gone to Hathras on Monday to cover the present situation in the area.

An official statement said that their mobile phones, a laptop and some literature, which could have an impact on peace, and law and order in the state, have been seized.Police also claimed that the men, during questioning, revealed they had links with the PFI and its associate organisation Campus Front of India (CFI).

The police handling of the Hathras case- the alleged negligence and the dead in night cremation of the victim, with the family locked up in their home, has drawn widespread public outcry and criticism from the opposition.  

The 19-year-old woman died in Safdarjung hospital on September 29.
