An incident has come to the fore from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat region where a man identified as Balwant Singh died in police custody after allegedly being tortured. Balwant was picked up by for questioning in relation to being the suspect in a robbery case of 4.5 lakh Rs robbery businessman Chandraban Singh, died in custody in Dehat’s Shivali Police station Tuesday Morning.

The 27-year-old victim was reportedly picked up for questioning while he was on returning home by the police.

Kanpur Dehat’s SI of police Suniti reportedly suspended 11 police personnel on the charges of negligence after the victim’s family alleged that Balwant was tortured in police custody. The District Magistrate of Kanpur Dehat also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Cases have also been filed against 5 police personnel and 1 doctor in the matter, according to reports.

The police officials, including the doctor, after the death of Balwant Singh, had cited that Balwant had complained about chest pains during questioning after which he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The reports further suggest that subsequently after he was taken to the hospital he succumbed during treatment.

According to reports, the post-mortem has hinted that the victim was brutally tortured in police custody. The victim, Balwant Singh, had 22 inflicted wounds on his body. The videos of the incident have also been going viral where the victim’s lower region can be seen bruised.

The family’s response

The family of the victim after being handed over the body of the Balwant took him home and discovered the wounds on his body. The family of the victim started a commotion and denied performing the last rites of their Balwant until there is post mortem carried out.

The family had asked the CM to come to visit the family and also sought legal action against the allegedly guilty police officials, according to reports. The family also demanded a government job for Balwant’s wife and to be compensated for 1 crore Rs for their loss.

The family also demanded the special inquiry be looked over by a committee led by a retired judge.

An incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh Kanpur’s Dehat where a man who had allegedly molested and harassed a woman sitting in an auto faced ramifications. After molesting the woman, the woman took it upon herself to get justice as the woman brutally beat up her molester.

In the video, a woman can be seen grabbing a man by his collar as she unleashes an attack on the man. The woman can be seen using her slipper to brutally beat up the man while grabbing him by his collar. The commotion can be seen resulting to a crowd gathering around the woman and the man.

The woman can also be heard hurling abuses at the man as she continues to teach a lesson to the molester. The crowd gathered around the woman can be seen witnessing the whole incident ensues, whereas some try to stop it from escalating further

Police action

After the video went viral, the police came forward to inform the people that the SI of Kanpur’s Satti has been instructed to take necessary action in the pertaining case and file a complaint.

After the video went viral, many came forward to add their take on the incident as one user came forward and praised and supported the woman’s actions. The user in his Tweet wrote that it was dealt in the right way, implying that such molesters should get treated like this.

Another user added to the conversation and had a contrary take as they wrote that they do not support the use of violence, implying that taking law into one’s own hands is wrong and the woman should have sought the help of police to resolve the matter.
