A terrifying incident of police brutally beating a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat district came to light. A UP policeman can be seen mercilessly hitting a man holding a child in his arms with sticks on Thursday.

In the video, an inspector from the local police station of UP’s Kanpur Dehat district was first seen thrashing the man with sticks, few seconds later the policeman can be seen violently trying to snatch the child out of the victim’s hands as the child starts crying.

The incident took place at the district hospital in Kanpur Dehat’s Akbarpur town on the afternoon of December 9.

The man with his child in hand kept pleading to the police to not hit him, because the child might get hurt. “Bacche ko lag jayegi” (The child will get hurt), if you do not stop hitting me, kept saying the victim and tried to run away from the police.

However, the police chased him and a few of them tried to forcefully snatch the child away from him even after the man kept saying that the child might get hurt. The brutality was so high that the man pleaded with police to not hit that the child does not have a mother (Iska maa bhi nahi hai), but the police did not stop.

And when asked about the incident to the police, a senior police official in Kanpur Dehat said that ‘light force’ was used and that the police tried to protect the child.

The UP Police in their statement said that a few people were trying to mislead the locals by shutting down the OPD of the hospital and scaring the patients away, that the man’s brother is an employee of the district hospital in Kanpur Dehat’ Akbarpur town. The police said that the man had bit the inspector’s hand while the victim also obstructed the police.
