With each game passing IPL 2021 is getting more interesting, as in third match of the second leg of IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by 2 runs. Young sensation Kartik Tyagi was the hero, as he defended 4 runs in last over. At one point Punjab were 178 runs in 18 overs with 8 wickets in hands and needed only 8 runs in last 2 overs. But the brilliance of Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman and Indian bowling sensation Kartik Tyagi stole the win from Punjab Kings.

After winning the toss Punjab Kings opted to field first and invited Rajasthan Royals to bat. Rajasthan started well in power play, as the new recruit Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 50 runs for 1st wicket. Lewis departed at in last over of powerplay with a quick fire 36 runs in 21 balls. Royals captain Sanju Samsom couldn’t do much with the bat and got out early at 4 runs.

With the help of Jaiswal’s 49 and cameo of  Mahipal Lormor’s 43 runs in just 17 balls, Rajasthan posted a massive 185 runs on the board. Arshdeep Singh and Md. Shami took 5 and 3 wickets, respectively.

Chasing the target of 186, Punjab responded very strongly. Their opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal added 120 runs for first wicket in 11.5 overs. But in a span of 2 overs Rajasthan sent both the openers back to pavilion. Mayank scored 67 runs in 43 balls, while Rahul missed his half century by just 1 run (49 runs). Even from that point Punjab was never in doubt to lose the match, because for 3rd wicket Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram added 50 runs. At one point Punjab were at 178 runs in 18 overs and looked very comfortable to win the match, needing only 8 runs in 12 balls with 8 wickets in hand. Mustafizur came to bowl the 19th over and gave only 4 singles, in last over Punjab needed only 4 runs with Markram and Pooran batting on 25 and 32 runs, respectively. But it was young Kartik Tyagi of Rajasthan who not only defended 4 runs but also took 2 wickets and won the match for Royals.

Kartik was named ‘man of the match’ for his unreal performance.
