The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) will commence offering international operations at the recently introduced terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport starting from September 12, according to reports.

The concerned authorities had postponed the commencement of international flights in terminal 2 temporarily, which was earlier scheduled to start on Thursday night. The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which is the operator of the airport, affirmed that the postponement was due to lack of preparedness.

Speaking to PTI, a BIAL spokesperson asserted that after consultation with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders, Bangalore International Airport Limited is pleased to announce the commencement of International operations at BLR Airport’s Terminal 2 on 12th September 2023, from 10:45 am onwards.

He further added that the decision has been taken with careful evaluation and consideration of various factors, including regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and passenger convenience. Earlier, the airport authority had stated that it decided to put off the commencement of international operations at the terminal after a preparedness review meeting late on Wednesday.

Issuing a statement on the matter, the concerned authorities mentioned that the proposed shifting of international operations at the Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru on August 31, 2023 stands postponed. It added that after consulting all regulatory authorities, BIAL will release a firm date for transition of international operations tomorrow. It further noted that the last minute decision was considered during the final preparedness review in order to provide an optimal and seamless transition for the travellers.

Earlier, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) stated that the passengers arriving at Terminal 2 can expect easy transfer, streamlined immigration and custom procedures. It further claimed that in an effort to enhance accessibility to T2, an additional 4.4 KM- long access road called ‘Terminal Boulevard’ was inaugurated earlier in this year.
