A horrific incident has been reported from Kerala on Monday, where over more than 3000 people were booked for attacking a Vizhinjam police station, situated 20 km away from the capital Thiruvananthapuram, protesting against the under-construction Adani port. Reports suggested that the protest sparked when huge a crowd gathered outside the police station, demanding the release of those whom the police arrested for objecting to the construction of Adani port.

A video of the same was also shared by an internet user on Twitter. She also captioned her post in Hindi that reads Kerala Police station attacked, 36 policemen injured. Protesters attacked after the detention of 5 people, there was disapproval of the construction.

In the video, it can be seen that a police vehicle was allegedly damaged by the protestor. As the clip moves further, it shows a big piece of rock laying seat, a broken windshield and a cracked body panel.

Amid this, the reports also suggested that the violent protestors on Saturday allegedly blocked trucks that were carrying some construction material for the under-construction site. Later, it was reported that at least 25 trucks for the construction projects were forced to go away and another 25 trucks were forcefully stopped from fucntion for a project worth $900 million dollars.

Meanwhile, construction work trans-shipment project had been suspended for the past three months because protesters, who were apparently largely Catholic priests, had erected a sizable shelter blocking its entrance and claimed that the port’s development had contributed to coastal erosion and deprived them of their livelihoods.
