The Union Ministry of Education stated on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, that the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has been ranked seventh in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)-2021.

On metrics relating to Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development among students and faculty, the Ministry rated all major higher educational institutions and universities in India. IIT-H put a lot of emphasis on innovation this year, and as a consequence, it moved 12 spots to seventh place. Prof BS Murty, Director of IIT-H, expressed his joy at the achievement.

The Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) has been published by the Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar today, on December 29, 2021. The ARIIA Rankings are however a ranking of India’s best universities and institutions.

The ARIIA India Ranking 2021 will include centrally sponsored technical institutions (IITs, NITs), etc, state universities, state-independent technical colleges, private universities, private independent technical colleges, non-technical government, and private universities and institutes. Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Education, will unveil the Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA). 

According to an official statement, ARIIA analyses universities based on parameters such as patent filing and grants, number of registered candidates and faculty startups, investment generation by incubated startups, and specialized infrastructural facilities created by institutions to promote growth and innovation.

This year, 1438 universities, including all IITs, NITs, and IIScs, took part in the ARIIA rankings, compared to 674 HEIs in the previous year’s second edition.

According to the official statement, this is more than twice as much as the second edition and nearly four times as much as the first edition.

The Ministry of Education announced on their social media account that Dr. Subhas Sarkar will release the ARIIA Rankings today. The AICTE, Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021, and the joint initiative of the Education Ministry of India and will be nearly announced by the MoS Dr. Subhas Sarkar.

IIT Madras topped the ARIA Rankings 2020 rankings of best centrally sponsored institutions last year. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, or KIIT, in Odisha, has won the category of private institutions.

In the last year, August 18, 2020, the ARIIA rankings were announced by Venkaiah Naidu, India’s Vice-President. There was a unique reward category for women-only higher educational institutions in the ARIIA 2020 rankings for the first time

Against  ARIIA women-only higher educational institutes, the Avinashilingam Institute For Home Science And Higher Education For Women and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women were rewarded.
