[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Two men wearing cat and dog masks robbed jewels worth several crores from a popular jewellery showroom in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli.

The incident took place at Lalitha Jewellery, a three-storeyed building near Chathiram Bus Stand in Tiruchirappalli.

In the early hours of Wednesday, October 2, masked men gained entry into the store by drilling a hole in its wall. As employees opened the store at around 9am, mannequins and display shelves in the diamond and gold section were found to be empty.

Police investigation based on CCTV footage from the store indicated that the burglary took place between 2am and 4 am, when two men wearing hooded jackets, face masks, and hand gloves entered the ground floor of the store carrying duffel bags. The footage also captured the men emptying the valuables into their bags.

The robbers had also spilt chilli powder in the shop to confuse the police dogs, PTI reported.

Besides examining CCTV footage of the crime scene and the locality, the cops had also reportedly sought guest lists of lodges and hotels in the vicinity.

Police Commissioner A Amalraj said that local police officials visited the spot to look for clues. “We have got some basic information. We have formed several teams to arrest the culprits,” he said. Forensic experts are also examining the store for clues.

Lalitha Jewellers chairman Kiran Kumar said, “Diamond, Gold and Platinum jewellery worth Rs 13 crore were stolen from the store. I am satisfied with the way the investigation is being carried, the robbers will be caught soon.” [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
