President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday reshuffled and appointed new Governors for 12 states and 1 Union Territory. Making the crucial Constitutional appointments, Murmu accepted the resignations of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R K Mathur.

Koshyari will be replaced by Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, while Mathur’s position will be taken over by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig B D Mishra (retd).

Murmu has appointed Governors for 12 states including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Bihar and Maharashtra. The President also appointed a new Governor for the Ladakh region.

• Lt. General Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retired) as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh
• Lakshman Prasad Acharya as Governor of Sikkim
• C.P. Radhakrishnan as Governor of Jharkhand
• Shiv Pratap Shukla as Governor of Himachal Pradesh
• Gulab Chand Kataria as Governor of Assam
• (Retd.) S. Abdul Nazeer as Governor of Andhra Pradesh
• Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh appointed as Governor of Chhattisgarh
• Anusuiya Uikye, Governor of Chhattisgarh appointed as Governor of Manipur
• La. Ganesan, Governor of Manipur appointed as Governor of Nagaland
• Phagu Chauhan, Governor of Bihar appointed as Governor of Meghalaya
• Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Himachal Pradesh appointed as Governor of Bihar
• Ramesh Bais, Governor of Jharkhand appointed as Governor of Maharashtra
• Brig. (Dr.) Shri B.D. Mishra (Retd.), Governor of Arunachal Pradesh appointed as Lt. Governor of Ladakh

Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray called Koshiyari’s resignation a big win for Maharashtra. Thackeray said Koshiyari cannot be accepted as Governor as he has constantly insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule, Savitri Bai Phule, and other democratic ideals.

The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, President’s Secretariat said in a statement.
