Today India is celebrating the auspicious occasion of Lohri. This occasion is celebrated every year on January 13. It falls one day prior to Makar Sakranti in Paush Magh month. This day is dedicated to God of Fire, Agni. In fact, this is said to be one of the shortest days and has the lengthiest night. People also know this festival as Lal Loi or Lohadi.

It is usually celebrated in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and North Eastern states of India with great pomp and show. It is also referred as the Harvest Festival.

He had rescued two Brahmin girls, Sundri and Mundri, from Akbar. Dulla Bhatti and became their godfather and it is believed that he married them off to Lohri with great festivity. In this way, he directly challenged the emperor. In fact, their tale was turned out in a sung which is sung during the auspicious occasion of Lohri every year.

The festival of Lohri is celebrated every year on January 13th. Also known as Lal Loi, it is a Punjabi folk festival that marks the end of winter. It is a traditional welcome of longer days and the sun’s journey to the northern hemisphere by Hindus and Sikhs in the northern region of the Indian subcontinent.
