Bihar’s Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Kailash Mahto was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in the Katihar district late Thursday. The incident took place under the limits of Barari Police Station.

Katihar SDPO, Om Prakash, said that they have started an investigation and the accused will be arrested soon.

Reports state that the 70-year-old leader was shot dead over a land dispute case. The police official said Mahto was shot multiple times in his stomach and head near his home over mutual enmity over land. Around 4-5 rounds of firing were done at the leader, said an official.

Mahto, a resident of Ward No 12 of Purbi Bari Nagar Panchayat in the Barari Thana area, had also requested security from the state government a few days ago.

The police assured that strict action will be taken against the accused after proper investigation. Mahto’s body has been sent for post-mortem.

On April 14, a Dalit leader Rakesh Paswan was shot dead in Bihar’s Vaishali district. Paswan who was a Bhim Army leader, was shot over 20 times by unidentified bike-borne assailants at doorstep of his house in Lalgunj area.

Soon after the incident, Pasan was taken to district hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A spat between two of his wives proved deadly for the husband in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal as the man reportedly got shot when the scuffle escalated and gunshots were fired, reports said on Sunday.

As per the police, the victim, identified as Taher Khan, was taking a bath when his first wife, Anjum, arrived at his house with their son along with some other accomplices and got into a heated argument with Taher’s second wife, Huma Khan.

Taher Khan is reportedly engaged in a divorce dispute with his first wife Anjum Khan.

An official said the scuffle soon got heated and overhearing the dispute, Taher stepped out of the bathroom and was reportedly shot by one of people who accompanied Anjum, adding that his second wife, Huma Khan, has also been admitted at the Hamidia hospital for treatment.

He said that Taher and Anjum’s divorce case—under which she has also laid claim to some of her husband’s property—is still pending in court.

The official said that it was still unclear who opened fire during the scuffle and the incident is being investigated, adding that a case has been registered in this regard.

In a similar incident, on February 7, a viral video emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut where two wives of a man came face to face and ended up in a brawl on a busy road in Lisari, as per reports. The two women can be fighting, dragging each other by their hair.

In the video, two women can be seen getting into a brawl with each other both of them hurl abuses at each other. The video shows both the women grabbing onto each other’s hair and kick each other.

The video also shows the woman in yellow giving life threats to the other woman as commotion continues. Subsequently after a bit, other people were also seen rushing in to stop the matter from escalating further as they separate the two women from each other.

The video also shows one woman breaking down and collapsing on the ground as she wails in pain and agony.

A youth shot his neighbour dead in broad daylight in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning.

After the CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, the police arrested the accused.

The police reports say that the accused had killed Sujit Rajput (30), his neighbour, to avenge the fight with his father. Reportedly, the man had beaten up the father of the accused over a dispute, a night before. After the murder, he fled from the spot. The police of Baradari police station arrested the accused of murder only a few hours later.

According to reports, 30-year-old Sujit Rajput, a resident of Gangapur under Baradari police station area of ​​Bareilly, was shot dead on Monday when he was standing in front of a shop at Gangapur square. Rahul shot him on the temple with a pistol, killed him and fled from the spot. The police took the injured man to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

After the murder, the police reached the spot, received information from the passersby and started searching for the accused. With the help of the CCTV camera installed nearby, Inspector in-charge of Baradari police station Abhishek Kumar arrested the accused Rahul. During interrogation, Rahul revealed the reason for the murder.

Inspector Abhishek Kumar said that after Sujit’s murder, the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby was checked. When the people were interrogated, it was found that Rahul, who lives in the neighborhood, had shot and killed Sujit.

After this, accused Rahul was arrested and when interrogated, he confessed to his crime. In his confession, he told the police that a boy, a relative of Sujit, was taking a dump outside Rahul’s house. Irked by this, Rahul’s father Daya Prasad scolded the boy and shooed him away. Angered by this, Sujit assaulted Rahul’s father Daya Prasad on Sunday night.

To avenge the fight with his father, Rahul made a plan to kill Sujit. On Monday, as soon as Rahul was standing in front of a shop at Gangapur square, Rahul shot him dead with a pistol and fled from the spot.

Bareilly SP Rahul Bhati said that the police of Baradari police station received information that a young man was shot dead at Gangapur intersection. After this, through the CCTV installed nearby, Rahul, who shot, was identified. He was arrested and further action was being taken.

A man whose daughter was sexually harassed was shot dead on Monday at 4 pm by the accused who was out on bail since 2018, the police said on the wee hours of Tuesday. The incident took place in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.

The daughter of the deceased man said her father was shot by six-seven people who fired at his temple as well as chest.

The daughter said her father had filed a complaint against Gaurav Sharma on charges of molestation in 2018. Irked by this, Sharma and six of his accomplices on Monday evening shot her father after an argument over the case, she alleged. A video of victim’s inconsolable daughter surfaced on social media in which she was heard saying they shot her father in the temple, chest and back.

Police said daughter of the victim had gone to a temple on Monday where Gaurav Sharma’s wife and aunt had also come. The two families started arguing in the temple over the case. The accused and the victim also arrived at the temple the accused shot him. The man was grievously injured and succumbed to injuries, police added.

Later, when the girl reached the hospital, she found that her father had died. She was in tears outside the hospital and could barely speak. With folded hands, she urged police to take strict action against the main accused.

The girl in the video was heard as saying she needs justice. First, he committed molested her and and then when her father lodged a case against him, he killed him out of annoyance.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested one accused so far in the case. The district police said they started an investigation after they were alerted and teams are on the lookout for other accused.
