In a latest development in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone violence, a fresh arrest has been made. This time, the man who allegedly brandished a sword during violence at the Ram Navami celebration that took place last month has been arrested. It is reported that he was later chased by Superintendent of Police Siddharth Choudhary.

The man who brandished the sword has been identified as Irfan and he was chased by Choudhary when he brandished the sword to threaten people, but managed to escape from the spot, said the officials.

According to reports, Irfan’s accomplice Mohsin fired at Choudhary when he was chasing the accused, due to which the SP suffered injuries.

Mohsin was arrested earlier and Irfan was nabbed a month after the incident took place. Choudhary later told the reporters that Irfan has been sent to jail after he was arrested.

The violence broke out on April 10 and on the same day in Khargone, the curfew was imposed. During the violence, stone-pelting also took place during a Ram Navami procession that triggered clashes and arson in the town.
