Maruti has been working on CNG cars for a very long period of time. Currently, the company only offers company-fitted CNG options for WagonR, Alto, Spresso,  Celerio, Ertiga and Eeco. But now, carmakers seem all set to launch Swift and Dzire in CNG options.

Currently, Maruti is testing its CNG option for Swift and Dzire, which has been spied in many districts and cities with a sticker CNG on test on the rear windscreen. The company expanding its CNG lineup at a time when fuel prices in many states and cities crossing Rs 100 per litre.

The company claims that they have used Corrosion material and high technology in its CNG cars which will prevent the CNG kit from leaking, the top-class system is used to avoid any risk like short circuits or blasts.

The Indian carmaker has used a unique fuel injection system that ensures an optimal air-fuel ratio. They has put their extra efforts on suspension, braking and chassis apparatus are tweaked to ensure optimal performance across varied terrains.

Mileage and engine

CNG is not only cheaper than fuel, but it also provides great mileage. The customers can expect around 32.52 km per kg mileage in the upcoming CNG swift.

According to the reports, CNG Swift might come with a 1.2 litre petrol engine which will provide 89 hp of max power at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm.  The car will be available in a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gear transmission.

The customers might get disappointed when it comes to power and torque because CNG cars provide less power as compared to fuel cars. In the case of WagonR, the 1.0-liter engine makes 67 hp / 90 Nm when running on petrol. The numbers drop to 58 hp / 78 Nm when it comes to CNG cars.
