The winter session of Parliament began today on November 29 and on the first day of its business day, Rajya Sabha suspended 12 of its members for causing a ruckus in the monsoon session that took place in August.

The MPS who have been suspended from the rest of the winter session of Parliament are Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena, Dola Sen of TMC, Congress’s Phulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, R Bora, Rajamani Patel, Syed Nasir Hussain, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, CPM’s Elamaram Kareem, CPI’s Binoy Viswam, Shiv Sena’s Anil Desai, and TMC’s Shanta Chhetri.

The opposition leaders were outraging over their suspension. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi was agitated over her suspension and said that they did not even call her for a hearing when this decision was taken.

She further said that this is absolutely unfair and this shows that the ruling government tries to silence the voice of those who have a strong voice and strong opinion, and can speak against this government.

She concluded by saying that she will speak to the chairman and this is extremely unfair, this is the way to silence opposition members.

The statement by Rajya Sabha mentioned that the leaders of the opposition parties unitedly condemn the unwarranted and undemocratic suspension of 12 members for the entire duration of the winter session.

Congress MP Chhaya Verma also said that there were members from other parties too who created the ruckus but have not been suspended. She further said that PM Modi is doing just as he wishes since he enjoys a brute majority.
