In unfortunate news, late Mehmood’s sister Minoo Mumtaz passed away in Toronto, Canada after battling cancer. She was 80 plus. As per a report in Etimes, she lived in Canada with her husband Sayyed Ali Akbar, a son, and 3 daughters.

The veteran actor-dancer was diagnosed with cancer a few days ago and she died on October 23 after her health deteriorated.

Mumtaz’s nephew confirmed the news to the news portal and said that since she was old, there wasn’t much to be done and she was the loveliest person he had ever met. The deceased actor’s younger brother Anwar Ali expressed gratitude to the film fraternity, press, media, and fans for showering love upon Mumtaz.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Anwar’s wife Mona Mathur informed that Mumtaz died around 1:30 am IST and the last rite will be performed in Toronto.

All about Minoo Mumtaz

Born as Malikunnisa Ali, Minno was the sister of legendary comedian Mehmood Ali. Her name was changed by the beautiful Meena Kumari. Talking about her film career, Minno had appeared in many Hindi films as an actor and dancer. She made her debut with Sakhi Hateem. She later bagged a lead role in Black Cat opposite Balraj Sahni.

Other remarkable films by Minoo include Taj Mahal, CID, Naya Daur, Gaban, Zameer, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Aladin, Alibaba, Gazal, Dharmaputra, and others. Minoo got married to film director S Ali Akbar on June 12, 1963. The couple had three daughters and a son.

In other news, on Prabhas’ 42nd birthday, the makers of Radhe Shyam has released the teaser of the film. The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bhagyashree, Sachin Khedekar, Murli Sharma, Sasha Chettri, Priyadarshi, Sathyan, and Kunaal Roy Kapur in lead roles. Radhe Shyam will hit the theatres on Makar Sankranti, January 14 and will release in 6 Indian languages that include Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
