Seven people, including two women, were detained by the police on Thursday for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl from the Korba region of Chhattisgarh and selling her to a man in Haryana. The man allegedly raped her several times.

According to the reports, the minor was kidnapped on October 11, after she had gone to see the Dussehra celebration with her family.

Koriya district’s Deputy Superintendent Kavita Thakur said that the victim was rescued from Sonipat in Haryana two months after she went missing from the Patna police station area of ​​the district.

The family then registered a complaint. During the investigation, several suspects were questioned and after getting inputs about the whereabouts of the victim, a police team was sent to Haryana from where the girl was rescued, Thakur said.

Thakur, who headed the probe, said the girl was abducted and sold to a 35-year-old man. The police arrested the man from Sonipat, and other accused, including two women, were arrested from Koriya, two from Korba, and one from Surajpur.

The accused were arrested under sections of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Further investigation into this matter is underway.

On Wednesday, a minor girl who was kidnapped from Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district last month was found in Pune. The police have arrested the accused. According to the reports, the girl had gone missing on November 16. When she did not return from school, her family members launched a search for her but the girl could not be traced. Her father then lodged a complaint at Bari Brahmana police station, they said.
