Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various government departments and ministries to work in “mission mode” to recruit 10 lakh people in the next one and a half years (18 months). The Prime Minister’s Office gave this information on Tuesday, June 14.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that this instruction of the Prime Minister has come after reviewing the human resource situation in all government departments and ministries.

The PMO tweeted, ” PM reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years.

The government has taken this decision amid constant criticism from the opposition on the issue of unemployment.

Reacting to the tweet of the PMO, BJP leader Varun Gandhi welcomed the decision. He said “Thank you Prime Minister for understanding the pain of unemployed youth. Along with announcement of new jobs, we will have to make meaningful efforts to fill up more than 1 crore ‘accepted but vacant’ posts. To give 2 crore jobs every year. To fulfill the pledge, steps will have to be taken at a faster pace.”
