Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has been embroiled in a controversy over an advertisement. The advertisement is of a private bank, in which actor Kiara Advani is also seen with him. The advertisement shows that instead of the bride entering the groom’s house after marriage, Aamir, who is playing the groom, enters the in-laws’ house as Ghar-Jamai.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra has raised a strong objection against this advertisement. He said that such advertisements hurt religious sentiments. He (Aamir Khan) is not allowed to do this.

In a discussion with the media persons in Bhopal, Home Minister Dr Mishra said that he had received a complaint regarding the same ad and requested that Aamir Khan to make advertisements while keeping in mind the Indian traditions and customs.

Dr Mishra adds such incidents of Aamir Khan letting down the Indian tradition, customs, gods and goddesses and acting in a twisted manner hurts the sentiments of a particular religion. No one is allowed to hurt anyone’s sentiments, the minister told the reporters.

What does the advertisement show?

In this ad, Aamir and Kiara are seen as a newly married couple. Aamir says to Kiara that this is the first time that a bride did not cry after her Vidai. Unlike the usual practice, in the advertisement, the groom goes to the bride’s house to take care of the bride’s ailing father. It further shows Aamir entering the Kiara’s house, just like a bride takes her first step inside the groom’s house after marriage.

Director Vivek Agnihotri also lashed out at the ad

Earlier, Director, Vivek Agnihotri, also took to twitter to express his anger against the advertisement. He said that he has failed to understand since when banks became responsible to change social and religious traditions. He adds, I think the bank should do activism by changing the corrupt banking system. They make such nonsense and then call out Hindus for trolling. Idiots, Agnihotri said.
