Stand up comedian Munawwar Farooqui on Sunday indicated in his social media post that he is leaving comedy.

After Farooqui’s post ‘nafrat jeet gayi, artist haar gya’, Tweeple came in support of the young stand-up comedian and encouraged him to be patient. The comedian was being targeted for being a Muslim, tweeple said.

To counter this, another section of twitter users come up with Zakir Khan’s name saying that comedy can be done without targeting any religion.

Some users were also told that how the comedy of these ‘artists’ did not get caught in such controversies.

Farooqi on Sunday confirmed that Bengaluru police has cancelled his show, which was supposed to hold at an auditorium in the city. In a letter to the Good Shepherd auditorium in Bengaluru’s Ashok Nagar, the police asked the show organizers to cancel the show citing the controversial figure of Faruqi and possible law and order issues.

This is not the first instance that Faruqui’s show got cancelled, as he has been denied for his stand-up show 12 times after his controversial stand-up video went viral, where he allegedly hurt the sentiments of Hindu community by insulting Hindu Gods.

Indian comedian Munawar Faruqui has been under media scrutiny ever since he was arrested by the Indore police earlier this year for insulting Hindu gods and goddesses during one of his comedy shows.

On Sunday, November 28, the Bengaluru Police have asked the show organisers to cancel his stand-up show that was to be held at Good Shepherd Auditorium.

After the incident, the 29-year-old comedian shared a long note on his social media handles and expressed his angst regarding the same. In his post, he revealed that today’s show was organised for charity for late actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s organisation. He also revealed that the show has been cancelled under the threats to venue vandalism. Faruqui was set to perform Dongri to Nowhere in Bengaluru and had already sold more than 600 tickets for his gig.

Munawar captioned his post as, “Nafrat jeet gayi, artist haar gaya. I’m done, goodbye. Injustice.”

Bengaluru police make organisers to cancel Munawar Faruqui’s stand-up show

A letter was sent to the Curtain Call, the show organisers by the Ashok Nagar police wherein the police tagged Munawar as a controversial figure, according to reports.

In the letter, the police wrote that Munawar Faruqui is a controversial figure for his controversial statements on other religions and Gods. Many states have banned his comedy shows. It is learnt that a case has also been registered against him under Tukoganj police station in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

The police further wrote that several organisations are opposing this stand-up comedy show performed by Faruqui. This could create chaos and could disturb public peace and harmony which may further lead to law and order problems. Therefore it is suggested that Faruqui’s comedy show should be cancelled.

In other news, candidates of REET 2021 demanded Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot to increase the number of vacancies to 50,000.
