The Prakatya Parv or birth anniversary of Lord Narasimha is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. This year, the festival is celebrated today, May 14, 2022, on Saturday. Lord Vishnu took many incarnations for the destruction of adharma and established religion. Narasimha Avatar is one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Lord Narasimha is the god of power and is known as the destroyer of enemies.

On this day Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyakashipu, the king of demons, wearing the body of half-man and half-lion to protect his devotee Prahlad.

Sikligarh Dharhara village is in Banmankhi of Purnia district of Bihar. Lord Narasimha had incarnated in this village. According to mythology and legends, Lord Narasimha incarnated from a pillar to protect the devotee Prahlad in the fort of Hiranyakashipu. The pillar is associated with the incarnation of Lord Narasimha, which is called the Ruby Pillar (Manikya Stambh). It is still present in Bihar.

It is told by the people that attempts were made to break and remove the ruby ​​pillar several times, but neither this pillar broke nor could it be removed. However, the pillar is bent. Now the incarnation site of Lord Narasimha has been built here. A large number of devotees come here for darshan.

Interesting facts: Mystery of Manikya Stambh

The place where the incarnation of Lord Narasimha is situated is Purnia, the river named Hiran flows here. A few years ago, there was a belief about the ruby ​​pillar that the deer used to reach the river by putting a stone in its hole. Which was a mystery, but now this hole is filled with offerings of Prasad and applying Roli-sandalwood.

There is also a temple of Bhimeshwar Mahadev near the incarnation site of Lord Narasimha. It is said that this is the same temple where Hiranyakashipu used to sit and worship. Hiranyakashipu’s brother Hiranyakachha was the king of the Barah region, which now falls in Nepal.

The ruby ​​pillar site is mentioned in the Bhagavata Purana (the eighth chapter of the seventh skandha).

According to the Bhagavata Purana, it is from this pillar that Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of Narasimha and protected the devotee Prahlad. The specialty of this place is that Holi is played here with ash and soil.

It is believed that when Holika was burnt and Prahlad came back safely from the pyre, then people celebrated the happiness by applying the same ashes and soil here and since then Holi started.
