Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced ‘New India’ initiative to manifest the strength and skills of 125 crore people, who according to him, will create a Bhavya and Divya Bharat, Grand and Divine India.

Addressing his 30^th monthly radio program mann ki baat , on Sunday, March 26, Prime Minister urged countrymen to join ‘the desire of 125 crore Indians to transform the country in forming the foundation of ‘New India.’ This was his first radio address after landslide BJP victory in recently held assembly elections.

He remembered Mahatma Gandhi saying “we are marking 100 years of Champaran Satyagraha. And this was one of the earliest Gandhian mass movements in India.” He appreciated Mahatma Gandhi’s efforts to influence the countrymen within two years after his return from foreign land.  Prime Minister said “he returned to India and in two years he went to Bihar and inspired the whole nation.”

Prime Minister also remembered the martyrdom of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru saying “They lived and died for our nation. It would be impossible to express in words the story of their supreme sacrifice. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919 impacted Bhagat Singh deeply. It changed the course of his life.”

Eighty six years ago, on March 23, 1931, the freedom fighters were martyred by hanging in Lahore jail, a death sentence they earned for the failed Gadar conspiracy of 1915.

Prime Minister also asked for suggestions about the forthcoming third International Day of Yoga to be held on June 21. He also announced his government’s initiative about the longer maternity leave for 26 weeks. He said that it will help 18 lac women in upbringing their newly born children.

He appreciated people’s response to the government’s initiative for cashless trasactions and their support for the Swachch Bharat campaign. He advised people to avoid wastage of foods.

PM Narendra Modi began his address by greeting the people of Bangladesh on their Independence Day, the March 26, by saying that India will always stand shoulder to shoulder with them and continue working towards peace and security in the region.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
