WhatsApp on Sunday shared a status on WhatsApp in which it clarifies the misconception about its privacy policy. In sets of four WhatApp status, it said the app doesn’t read or listen to the personal messages of their users. I further said their user’s conversations are end-to-end encrypted which means it doesn’t give the right to any third party to see the messages of their users.

In another status, WhatsApp said the app doesn’t share your location with anyone except the person whom the user is sharing their location. The app further said it doesn’t share the user’s contact number to the Facebook account without the user’s permission.

Last week, WhatsApp had informed their users about its changes in its terms of new privacy policy update, which suggests data sharing with its parent company Facebook. To use WhatsApp further, users have to accept the new terms and new policy before the deadline till February 8, 2021, after which the app will automatically delete the user’s WhatsApp account if the users are not okay with the new privacy policy.

Later, in a series of tweets, the company confirmed that it is pushing back the date from February 8, 2021, to May, for now.

Due to new privacy policy, Many WhatsApp users have shifted to other rival application like Signal and Telegram that have seen millions of downloads in the past few days.

WhatsApp had recently released an official statement in which it said the policy update does not affect the privacy of user’s messages with friends or family in any way. Instead, this update includes changes related to messaging a business on WhatsApp, which is optional and provides further transparency about how we collect and use data.
