Actors Jacqueline Fernanedez and Nushrratt Bharucha have been roped in as the female leads in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, Ram Setu. 

While Jacqueline has earlier teamed up with Akshay in several projects like Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Brothers, among others, the film marks the first collaboration between him and Nushrratt.

It was during last Diwali that Akshay announced the film on social media. He wrote, this Deepawali, let us endeavor to keep alive the ideals of Ram in the consciousness of all Bharatiyas by building a bridge(setu) that will connect generations to come. Taking this mammoth task ahead, here is our humble attempt, #RamSetu. 

The actor also shared his first look from the film, in which he can be seen in a disheveled avatar with a saffron scarf tied around his neck. 

Backed by Abhishek Kapoor, the shooting has been scheduled to begin mid this year. It was revealed that the filming will happen in Ayodhya, for which Akshay had a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the plan.

The film is slated to release for Diwali this year. However, there are still a lot of details to be uncovered regarding the plot of films and characters.

Meanwhile, Akshay is committed to complete several upcoming projects on his work slate. It is said that over Rs 530 crore is riding on him, with the films that are set to release this year. There is Rohit Shetty’s  Sooryavanshi in which the actor will be seen as ATS officer Veer Sooryavanshi. In Bell Bottom, he plays a RAW agent, while in Prithviraj , he is all set to bring alive the heroism of Prithviraj Chauhan. Also the upcoming releases set for coming months include,  Bachchan Pandey, Atrangi Re, Raksha Bandhan among others.
