The newly launched Ola electric scooter, which is getting a good response from the customers caught fire in Pune on March 26. The news came into the limelight when the video of the incident start circulating on all the social media platforms. While reacting to it, the company said it is investigating the matter and taking proper action to sort out the problem.

It is still not confirmed that the model which has caught the fire if it was the standard S1 variant or S1 Pro model of the vehicle. They told the media that they are aware of an incident that took place in Pune and they are investigating the matter and trying to understand the main problem due to which the vehicle caught the fire. Ola said they will share more updates regarding the same shortly. The firm further added that they are constantly in touch with customer who has suffered no injuries.

In the 15-second video clip, the vehicle can be seen parked on the roadside and it is completely engulfed in fire. In most cases, the EV’s batteries catches fire due to overheating and the poor quality of lithium-ion cells or an inefficient battery management system.

The Ola’s S1 variant comes with 2.96kWh battery pack which provides a range of 121km once fully charge. Both variants S1 and S1 Pro come with a Hyperdrive motor that produce a maximum power of 8.5kW. According to the company, the S1 variant has a top speed of 90kmph which comes in two riding modes – Normal and Sports. While the S1 Pro variant comes with an additional Hyper mode which has a top speed of 115 kmph.
