Navdeep Singh, 26, termed as the hero of the farmers protest, booked on Saturday under the charges of attempt to murder, rioting and violation of Covid-19 rules. Navdeep, the son of a local farmer body leader Jai Singh of Jalbera village of Ambala district, has been booked a day after coming into limelight when he jumped to move the direction of water cannon and returned back onto a tractor-trolley during the farmers’ protest. This incident was happened at Kurukshetra in Haryana where Navdeep was protesting along with farmers from over 250 villages.

Navdeep’s brave act caught on camera and the video of it went viral on social media. As the news of Navdeep being booked under various charges hit the headlines, people have extended their support to the booked youth on social media.

The protectors were struggling to move to Delhi due to heavy barricading by the Delhi police on the Ambala-Delhi highway amid the use of water cannon on the protestors. Navdeep, who did his graduation from Kurukshetra University, has bravely moved the direction of water cannon to help the protestors. He is among those who booked with Bharatiya Kisan Union Haryana president Gurnam Singh Charuni after an FIR lodged at Parao police station on Thursday. Navdeep’s father Jai Singh is also an accused in this FIR.

After the day-long confrontation at Delhi-Haryana borders, the Delhi Police on Friday finally allowed thousands of protetors to enter Delhi and stage protest at Nirankari ground in Burari. For which, the police made necessary arrangements at designated ground. The farmers also get support from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. They will join the protest in the next few days.

Farmers from Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the Narendra Modi government’s farm laws had to face heavy police and paramilitary deployment, water cannons, barricades and detentions in their march towards Delhi. Navdeep said the farmers of Punjab and Haryana are overwhelmingly against the new laws but hardly anyone turned up for BJP’s pro-farm law protests.
