Eleven people, including two senior citizens and four women, got stuck in mid-air at Parwanoo Timber Trail in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan Valley on Monday due to a technical glitch in a cable car. According to the Parwanoo Deputy Superintendent of Police, Pranav Chauhan, people got stranded in a cable car trolley for the last 1.5 hours because of a technical fault in the cable car system.

Varinder Sharma, SP (Solan), said the rescue operation is underway and two people, including one woman and one man, have been rescued by the staff of the resort. The report states that all those stranded are tourists from Delhi.

According to the reports, the Timber Trail operator’s technical team has been deployed to rescue those stuck, with local police keeping an eye on the situation. Kasauli Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dhanbir Thakur said people are safely being evacuated. He further said that the National Disaster Response Force (team) would reach the scene shortly.

Informing the situation of those stuck in Parwanoo Timber Trail on social media, Jairam Thakur, Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister assured that all tourists will be rescued safely. He said tourists stuck in the Parwanoo Timber Trail near Solan are being rescued and further stated that he is on his way to receive the details of the incident personally. The government is on the site, and all of the passengers will be safely retrieved soon with the support of the NDRF and the administration, Thakur added.

The Timber Trail private resort, located 35 kilometers from Chandigarh, offers a popular ropeway ride as a tourist attraction. The resort mostly draws visitors from throughout the region, as Parwanoo is situated on the border of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh.

Earlier in April, three people died after being trapped in cable cars for more than 40 hours in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district due to a technical issue. A malfunction on the 770-meter ropeway to the Trikut Hills, a famous tourist destination, resulted in 50 persons being rescued from the cable cars.
