The prices of petrol and diesel have crossed yet again all-time high for the fifth consecutive day. On October 9, the prices of petrol, hiked by 30 paise per litre and the price of diesel hiked by 35 paise per litre. In the national capital, the price of petrol was hiked by Rs 103.54 per litre to Rs 103.84 per litre. On the other hand, the price of diesel was hiked by 35 paise per litre, due to which the price increased from Rs 92. 12 to Rs 92.47 per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation.

In Mumbai, the petrol price now stands at Rs 109.83 per litre, and the price of diesel stands at Rs 100.29 per litre. In Chennai, the price of petrol is now Rs 101.27 per litre and the diesel price is now Rs 96.93 per litre. In Kolkata, the petrol price now stands at Rs 104.52 per litre and the diesel price stands at Rs 95.58 per litre.

In Jaipur, the petrol price has crossed all the records and it has crossed the mark of Rs 110 per litre.

How are the petrol and diesel prices implemented?

The state-run oil refineries like Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum revise the fuel rates on a daily basis. This implementation takes place by taking into account the crude oil prices in the international markets and the rupee-dollar exchanges in petrol and diesel, then later these prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.
