Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Pune Metro Rail Project in an endeavour to provide world-class infrastructure for urban mobility. But soon after the inauguration of the project, PM Modi hit the headlines and became the meme material on social media platforms.

The social media users trolled PM Modi for interacting with students wearing school uniforms on Sunday. The users noted that the differently-abled students seated next to the Prime Minister were dressed in school uniforms on a Sunday morning. They even called it a fake publicity stunt by Narendra Modi as no school is opened on Sundays.

Congress leader Maanmohan Singh Pahujaa tweeted that every election is important, even if it’s a municipal election, the PM simply has signalled the municipal elections are coming pretty soon. You simply need to follow his schedule to realize, where the next round of elections will take place, he continued.

One of the users wrote everything about PM Modi is fake. The Modi government is doing a fake publicity stunt. The interaction with school students is all about PR and self-aggrandizing and this photo is a great example of that, he said. While the other user wrote children were compelled to come in school uniforms on Sunday for his drama.

The Pune Metro project is estimated to cost around Rs 11,400 crore, and work began on December 24, 2016, when Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone. The 12-kilometer network, which opened on Sunday, comprises two metro lines: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Phugewadi and Garware College to Vanaz.

Narendra Modi had a 10-minute ride during which he interacted with differently-abled students dressed in school uniforms.
