Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday lambasted the Narendra Modi government saying its governance was visible only in advertisements. She accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP of using religious and sentimental issues for political gain.

Addressing a rally in Pathankot, Punjab, three days before the state goes to vote on February 20, Priyanka Vadra said there is no governance in the country, all that is claimed is only visible on advertisements. Had there been governance, there would have been employment, and the spiralling price rise would not have been there. Had there been governance, PSUs, which generate employment, would not have been sold to his friends. Both AAP and BJP use religion, sentiments for politics. They are not doing development, she continued.

“Where is governance?” Priyanka Gandhi asked BJP leaders in the rally stating that Rs 2,000 crore is being spent on publicity. She claimed poor people, small traders, and small enterprises face numerous challenges in the country, and slammed the Centre, asking who is concerned about them.

Taking a dig at both PM Narendra Modi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, she said it makes her laugh when both of them talk about Punjabiyat. How would they understand Punjabiyat? To understand it, one has to live it. Punjabiyat is a sentiment, she said.

Vadra said of those who talk of Punjab and Punjabiyat in the election campaign, one of them has bowed before his billionaire friends and the second one is Kejriwal. For politics and power, he can bow before anyone. That is the truth, she claimed.

The elections for the 117-member Punjab Assembly will take place on February 20 and the result will be declared on March 10 along with the results of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

In another political development today, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh attacked the Narendra Modi government. Singh said the Modi government has been in power for seven years but even now whenever they face any hurdle, they blame it on the India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
