In a horrific accident, a six-month-old baby was crushed to death after a bike fell on the road on Friday. The accident took place on the Pune-Nashik highway when the bike carrying the baby slipped on the road while trying to overtake the tractor. The mishap is reported from Maharashtra’s Rajgurunagar area.

According to the reports, the bike rider and his wife were taking their baby girl to the hospital on a two-wheeler as she was ill. The eyewitnesses said that the tractor driver, who was travelling from the Khed ST Stand side to the Wada side of the road, overtook the motorcycle from behind close to the Sangam cloth store.

The bike was then hit by the truck as it was overtaking it and it fell. The mother, who was riding on the back of the bike, was holding her six-month-old baby when the child fell to the ground and died on the spot.

The police reached the spot as quickly as they received information about the incident. Police Constable Santosh Gholap is conducting a further investigation into this matter. As per the reports, the initial investigation reveals that the bike skidded due to unorganized parking and a congested road.

The locals said that accidents happen regularly here because too many two-wheelers are parked on the road in front of the shops.

On Thursday, eight people were injured when a taxi cab they were travelling in skidded off the road and overturned in Srinagar’s Rajouri district.

A day before yesterday, another such accident happened where at least eight people were injured in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar after a speeding car mowed down passengers on the street. The accident took place at around 12:40 pm at Pushp Vihar junction in Garodia Nagar, Ghatkopar (East).
