A 49-year-old man from Rajasthan allegedly committed suicide and accused his employer of taking this extreme step. The official said the man has left behind an audio clip purportedly blaming his employer for harassing him and not paying him his salary.

The deceased Sanjay Pande can be heard blaming his employer Shabbir Khan, who runs a transport company, for not paying his salary. Pande in an audio clip also said Shabbir Khan has the patronage of Rajasthan MLA Rafiq Khan.

Based on the audio clip provided by Pande’s family, the Rajasthan Police have registered a case for abetment to suicide against Shabbir Khan with Kanota Police Station, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Megh Chand Mina.

In response to the incident, the BJP launched an attack on the state’s Congress government, alleging that Sanjay Pande had claimed in the audio that his employer Shabbir Khan was engaged in cow smuggling with the support of an MLA.

Former BJP MLA from Adarsh Nagar Ashok Parnami said Pande alleged in the audio recording that Shabbir was involved in cow smuggling and wanted to engage him too, but when he refused and demanded his salary, Shabbir started threatening him.

Police said Pande’s body was shifted to the mortuary of SMS Hospital for a postmortem on Wednesday, but the family members did not agree to an autopsy and hence it could not be conducted. The body is still kept at the mortuary, he said.

Earlier in June 2021, a 46-year-old man hanged himself to death over non-payment of a pending salary by a private school where he worked earlier as a Taekwondo coach.
