Rapper Santhanam Srinivasan Iyer aka EPR is hogging headlines over his new rap song slamming Sar Tan Se Juda slogan. The rapper recently performed the song on the MTV reality show Hustle 2.0.

In the now-viral rap, EPR slammed the religious extremists and the controversial slogan Sar Tan Se Juda that was raised after the brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lala, a Hindu tailor, in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.

In his rap, EPR condemned the Udaipur killing and also mentioned the killers’ names Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad. They were a part of the Al Sufa terror group, EPR said in his rap song. Further, EPR highlighted the controversy around the now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

For those uninitiated, Sar Tan Se Juda slogan gained momentum during the controversy around the Prophet Mohammad remark by Nupur Sharma. It was also used to defend the killing of Kanhaiya Lala in Udaipur.

Soon after EPR’s rap video went viral, Twitter users reacted to it. While some applauded the rapper, others called it propaganda. One user wrote this is how religious extremism is countered via Rap Music too. Another user slammed the rapper for defending the government, police, and the judiciary.

Nupur Sharma controversy

BJP’s national spokesperson Nupur Sharma triggered outrage after she made a derogatory remark on Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate. Middle-East countries including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and others slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party and protested against the party.

Following the outrage, Sharma was suspended from the party. Days after her suspension, Kanhaiya Lal, a Hindu tailor from Rajasthan’s Udaipur, was brutally murdered for supporting the BJP leader on social media.

The killers Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad uploaded the video of the crime on social media and were arrested by the Rajasthan police. Reports say the investigation revealed that one of the killers was trying to get close to BJP leaders and workers affiliated with Muslim Rashtriya Manch.
