The matter of the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET Exam 2021) is highlighted. Candidates are demanding Rajasthan CM, Ashok Gehlot to increase the number of seats to 50,000.

This subject was raised after the high court hearing, on the eligibility to appear for the REET-Level 1 examination.

There are total 31,000 seats in REET-Level 1 examination, which applicants are demanding to increase to at least 50,000.

Earlier, the high court has announced his decision over the eligibility to appear for the REET level 1 exam, in which B.Ed degree holders are not eligible to give the exam.

Candidates with a BSTC degree will be only eligible to appear for the REET level 1 exam. Soon after this, the division bench, headed by Chief Justice Akil Kureshi also repealed the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) notification, which further permitted the B.Ed degree holders to appear in the exam.

After 3 days of continuous hearing by the division bench, the order came. Approximately 9 lakh applicants will be affected by high court decisions.

In the year 2018, the notification issued by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), considered B.Ed degree equivalent to elementary education and made them eligible for REET level 1 exam.

Despite the fact that this is not acceptable, only BSTC applicants were allowed to appear for the exam. This becomes challenging for the B.Ed candidates. Initially, the high court allowed the B.Ed candidates but later changed the decision, while directing the results to hold until the matter was solved.
