The Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB-NTPC) is in the headlines and students across the country who appeared for the examination are protesting against the result of the examination.

Why are students protesting against the RRB-NTPC results?

Recently, the Ministry of Railways announced the result and it was mentioned that this time there will be a change in the procedure for shortlisting of candidates for the second stage of CBT.

According to the clarification given by the Railways, it was mentioned that the first stage of CBT was a common entrance examination but in the second stage CBT there would be a separate examination for each group in which level of difficulties would differ.

As soon as the notification was out, several candidates claimed that this screening process is designed to favour those with higher qualifications and that too in the jobs that require lesser qualifications.

Meanwhile, as there is a rise in protest, the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday issued a statement in which it was mentioned that candidates will be debarred for life from obtaining a Railway job.

In the statement, it was also written that RRB NTPC Protest videos will now be examined by the Ministry with the help of specialised agencies. Upon proper examination, those found indulging in any of the mentioned activities will be penalised accordingly. They will be liable to both police action as well as lifetime debarment from a Railway job.

The long wait of the RRB NTPC aspirants has over on Friday after the Railway Reserve Board (RRB) released the results for the Computer Base Test (CBT-1) exam.

However, even the board released the result of the exam on Friday, yet, the candidates were not happy with the result and their anger is still visible on Twitter since Friday.

As soon as the result was released, the candidates had started hashtag #RRB_NTPC_Scam on Twitter. Now the hashtag #RRBNTPC_1student_1result were trending on Twitter since morning on Tuesday.

In their thousands of tweets, the candidates alleged that there has been corruption in the exam results. The candidates are claiming that Railway Recruitment Board had said in its recruitment advertisement that CBT-1 will be a one-way eligibility test. About 20% candidates will be shortlisted for CBT-2 but only 4 to 5% of the candidates have been shortlisted, the candidates alleged.

They also alleged that some students have been selected for more than one post. In such a situation, if these candidates choose the post of their choice, then many posts will remain vacant. Also, other students will not be selected, the candidates alleged.

However, the candidates have been demanding to revise the exam result saying that the selection of the same candidate for 5-6 posts is unfair.

Students are claiming that the applications were sought for recruitment on 35000 vacancies. Around 8 lakh candidates were to be shortlisted after the first phase of the examination.

According to the vacancies in each region, 7 to 8 times the candidates were to be qualified, but the number of qualified candidates in the released results is only 3 to 4 times as compared to the vacancies in the region.
