Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday urged the Indian government to evacuate Indian families stranded in Ukraine.

Taking it to Twitter, Gandhi shared a video wherein troops can be seen forcing stranded citizens to evacuate the place and wrote that his heart goes out to the Indian students suffering such violence and their family watching these videos. He further urged the Government of India to urgently share the detailed evacuation plan with those stranded as well as their families. We can’t abandon our own people, Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Several Congress leaders have shared horrifying videos of Indian students in Ukraine. Highlighting the plight of the students, they have appealed to the Indian government to evacuate them as early as possible.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine has advised students to make their way to railway stations for evacuation. In a tweet, the embassy informed that the weekend curfew has been lifted in Kyiv and asked all the students to make their way to the railway station for an onward journey to the western parts. It also informed that the Ukraine Railways has arranged special trains for evacuations.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a second high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis. As per reports, the Union Ministers under the leadership of PM Modi has launched operation Ganga to bring back stranded students and Indian citizens from the conflict-torn Ukraine. PM Modi has also decided to send four union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, and Gen (retd) VK Singh to Ukraine’s neighbouring nations to arrange the evacuation for stranded Indians.

Early this morning, a fifth flight carrying as many as 249 Indian citizens who were stranded in war-torn Ukraine landed in New Delhi. Special flights have been scheduled by Air Indian under Operation Ganga.
