The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday questioned Maharashtra-based businessman Sadanand Kadam in connection with its ongoing investigation into the Dapola Sai Resort scam.

As per reports, Sadanand Kadam—a friend of former minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab, and brother of former Shiv Sena MP Ramdas Kadam—was being grilled by the ED in connection with the Sai Resort scam case when this report was filed.

Information regarding Kadam was given out by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.

As per emerging details, Kadam was being interrogated by ED sleuths regarding the case at their office. In February, the businessman had challenged the Income Tax department after it had provisionally attached Sai Resort under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPTA) in December 2022.

In its notice, the IT department had claimed that Anil Parab is the beneficial owner of the resort while Kadam is benamidar (his front). The tax department’s move was challenged by Kadam who claimed the IT report as false and said that he was the actual owner of the resort.

Kadam had claimed that he used money earned from the cable-internet business to construct the resort.

The taxmen had also claimed to have found suspicious payments received in Kadam’s bank account which was denied by the Kadam family. The IT department had said that Kadam allegedly used Rs 6 crore cash to construct the Sai Resort, a claim which was denied by the Kadams, who said that only 1.5 crore cash had been used for the resort work while the rest was used for cable-business-related payments.

The Kadams had also stated that Anil Parab was not connected to the resort or its construction in any shape or form.

Earlier today, a team of ED left for Mumbai along with Kadam from Ratnagiri to question him in connection with the case at their office.
