Kamada is one of the Hindu’s important festivals which falls on April 12, 2022. The Kamada Ekadashi is the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month, according to the Hindu calendar.

Devotees observe a fast on Kamada Ekadashi and they only open the fast once the sun rises on the next day. Those who fast on Kamada Ekadashi are bestowed with prosperity, and happiness and obtain the proper serenity of mind, and can sometimes achieve Moksha, according to the Hindu faith.

This holy festivity is today, April 12, this year. It is the first Ekadashi following the Hindu New Year. Devotees keep a fast on this day to show an ode to Lord Vishnu. The day occurs on the 11th lunar day of the fortnight of the waxing moon in the month of Chaitra, according to the Hindu Panchang.

Moreover, Kamada Ekadashi is also known as Chaitra Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. In the Hindu New Year, this festival is the first Ekadashi. Basically, Ekadashi means eleven. The eleventh day of two fortnights of the waxing and waning Moon, in the lunar month, is known as Ekadashi in Sanskrit. The Bhagwat Geeta describes Ekadashi as the day when Lord Krishna explained the significance of fasting on this auspicious day to Arjuna.
