Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, on Tuesday, congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his reelection as Pakistan’s Prime Minister.

Congratulations to CM Shehbaz on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, PM Modi wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A day earlier, in a parliamentary session, Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the new prime minister of Pakistan and he took the oath of office on Monday.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the recently elected prime minister addressed his finance team for the first time and gave them instructions to start discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on an extended financial facility. The existing arrangement expires in April, as per reports.

The 72-year-old thanked his elder brother and three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and allies profusely in his victory speech in the National Assembly shortly after he was elected as the 24th prime minister and for the second time since 2022 for their trust and for enabling him to lead a coalition government after last month’s election resulted in a hung Parliament.

According to Sharif, his government would not permit the nation to participate in any great game and would maintain friendly ties with neighbors founded on equality.

Shehbaz said, he will maintain their ties with neighbors based on equality. But Shehbaz brought up the Kashmir dispute and linked it to Palestine.

The election on February 8 was tainted by a ban on mobile internet, arrests, and violence during the lead-up. The results were unusually delayed, which led to claims that the vote was manipulated.

From April 2022 till August 2023, he served in the same capacity, succeeding cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, who was removed following a vote of no confidence.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. The oath of office was administered by President Arif.

In the 77-year history of Pakistan, Sharif is the 24th prime minister.

Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed on a power-sharing deal to form a new coalition government after days of intense negotiations, as per the senior party leaders.

On Tuesday night, in a joint conference, the PPP Chairman Bhutto announced that PML-N president, 72-year-old Shehbaz Sharif will be the Prime Minister of Pakistan once again and the PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari, 68, is set to assume the role of the President of Pakistan again.

Speaking to reports, Bhutto said the PPP and PML-N have achieved the required number, and now they were in a position to form the government.

He said the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party-backed candidates and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) could not achieve a simple majority in Parliament to form government in the Centre.

Bilawal hoped that the political alliance with PML-N to form a coalition government would result in a positive market response since the cash-strapped country faced a hung Parliament after the February 8 elections.

Independent candidates, who were supported by the 71-year-old Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, managed to secure 93 seats in the National Assembly.

Shehbaz Sharif, in his speech, expressed confidence that his PML-N party, along with the PPP, now has the necessary numbers to form the next government. He also thanked the leadership of both parties for successfully concluding the talks.

According to the reports, the former prime minister highlighted the unity between the two political parties and their strong position to form the government at the Centre.

The PML-N secured 75 seats in the election, while the PPP came in third with 54 seats. Additionally, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has agreed to support the two parties with their 17 seats.

To form a government, a party must win 133 out of 265 contested seats in the 266-member National Assembly or the lower house of Parliament.

An India Vs Pakistan match not like other cricket matches. The tension  on the field and among fans, former players and even politicians cannot be missed. The Asia Cup 2023 Group A match at the Pallekelle International Stadium was the latest addition to the glorious rivalry between these two cricketing giants.

Ex Pakistan PM Shebaaz Sharif was highly impressed by Shaheen’s bowling spell. He took to X( formerly twitter) to praise the left arm bowler. Reffering to Rohit and Kohli he wrote they cannnot play him. The post went viral immediately. This post attracted a mixed reaction from cricket fans around the world. Former Pakistan  Wahab RIaz also joined the queue.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya provided enough brilliance, although rain had the last laugh by forcing a washout. Shaheen’s start was not ideal. He was bowling far too full. He strayed on Rohit’s pads on a couple of occasions was clipped down for boundaries. It looked as if it is going to be an off day for Shaeen Afridi. But rain came as a saving grace in the fifth over. Shaheen now had the chance to reaccess his performance in the 15-20 minutes break.

After the game reassumed Shaheen was a different bowler all together. Rohit Sharma was dismissed three deliveries later in the match by an unplayable delivery. Virat Kohli was out in the next over. Shaheen pulled his length back a bit. This change in bowling brought great results for him. Now he was not concentrating on swinging the ball but was hitting the pitch hard. The ball did not reach Kohli as quickly as he had expected  and he dragged the ball onto his stumps. Shaheen became the first bowler to dismiss both Rohit and Kohli in the same ODI.

Calling for “serious and sincere talks” on “burning points like Kashmir” with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Islamabad has learned its lesson after three wars with India and now wants to establish peaceful ties with the neighbor.

In an interview with Dubai-based Al Arabiya TV, Shehbaz Sharif said: “My message to the Indian leadership and Prime Minister Modi is that let’s sit down on the table and have serious and sincere talks to resolve our burning points like Kashmir. It is up to us to live peacefully and make progress or quarrel with each other and waste time and resources.”

Sharif said that three wars with India have resulted in nothing but poverty, misery and unemployment to the people.

“We have learnt our lesson, and we want to live in peace with India, provided we are able to resolve our genuine problems,” Sharif said in the interview aired on Monday.

Shehbaz Sharif said that neither India nor Pakistan can change their geographical location and they are neighbors forever, even if not by choice and its up to New Delhi and Islamabad to either learn to live peacefully and progress or quarrel and waste time and resources.

On the subject of Kashmir, Sharif said that Pakistan wants peace but “what is happening in Kashmir should be stopped.”

In November 2022, India had hit out at Pakistan for raking up the Kashmir issue during a United Nations debate terming it a “desperate attempt to peddle falsehoods”.

As we meet today to discuss UNSC reforms, a representative of Pakistan has yet again made unwarranted references to Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral and inalienable part of India irrespective of what Pakistan’s representative believes,” Pratik Mathur, Permanent Mission of India to UN, had said in the right to reply during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meet on UN Security Council.

Adding “Pakistan’s desperate attempts to peddle falsehoods and a bad habit of abusing the sanctity of multilateral forums deserves collective contempt and perhaps sympathies as well.”

Pakistan Foreign Affairs Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had spoken about alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in the Al Arabiya interview, Sharif hoped that engineers, doctors, and skilled labourers in India and Pakistan could be utilized as assets to further prosperity and peace in both nations.

“Pakistan does not want to waste resources on bombs and ammunition. We are nuclear powers, armed to the teeth, and if God forbids, a war breaks out, who will live to tell what happened?” the Pakistani leader asked.

A video went viral where Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif’s clumsiness made Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin burst into a laugh at the 22nd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at Samarkand.

In the video, the Pakistan’s prime minister can be seen struggling to put on his ear piece as the device couldn’t be placed on Sharif’s ears, after which he asked for help. As the dialogue between the nations commenced, Sharif’s earpiece again fell from his ears which made the Russian president slip out an audible chuckle.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, since then, has been subjected to a lot of flak on social media where, largely the workers of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party, proclaimed that the incident was an embarrassment for the country.

After Covid-19 impacting everything and forcing everything onto virtual platforms, the SCO 2022 summit was the first in-person meet in SCO history. The summit will witness the attendants of eight member nations, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The SCO is the successor to the Shanghai Five, a mutual security agreement formed in 1996 between the People’s Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and later on was expanded to Pakistan, India and Iran subsequently.

During the dialogue between Russia and Pakistan, Putin expressed to the Pakistan’s Prime Minister that Russia is ready to extend gas supply to Pakistan as the necessary infrastructures have are already established. Russia and Pakistan have other ambitious projects in the pipeline, largely in the energy sector.

Another video of a similar nature went viral back in January where Prime minister Narendra Modi abruptly paused his speech at the virtual world economic forum 2022. In the video, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was delivering his speech but he suddenly paused as he asked the facilitator if he was audible.

Many believe the abrupt stop at the prime minister’s speech was caused due to a teleprompter issue. The prime minister was trolled and scrutinized by the opposition as the hashtag Teleprompter PM trended in twitter.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan wants peace with India through dialogue. War is not an option for either of the countries to resolve the Kashmir issue, he also said as per the media reports on Saturday.

Speaking to a delegation of students from Harvard University on Friday, Sharif said Pakistan resolves to maintain peace in the region and that sustainable peace in the region was linked to the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions.

Relations between India and Pakistan have often been strained over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. India and Pakistan should compete in trade and economy, Pak PM said in a discussion with students on the contemporary challenges Pakistan has been facing.

Interacting with Harward University students, Sharif said Pakistan’s economic crisis is the result of structural problems along with political instability over the decades.

The first few decades since the birth of Pakistan witnessed impressive growth across all sectors of the economy when there were plans, national will and the implementation mechanism to produce outcomes, he also said.

As Pakistan turned 75 on August 14, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote an essay in The Economist magazine in which he stated that the country in its adolescence, in the 1960s, brimmed with hope and promise as it had a date with destiny.

After weeks of high voltage drama in Pakistan’s parliament, Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the country’s new prime minister. Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and they are the first brothers to be elected as the prime minister of Pakistan. The leader of the opposition PML-N replaced Imran Khan.

Imran Khan’s government, Tehreek-e-Insaf, failed the no-confidence motion filed against him by the Opposition on Saturday. As per reports, Imran Khan resigned as a member of the National Assembly and said that he will not sit in the assemblies with thieves.

The acting speaker on Saturday said that 174 members recorded their votes and all were in favour of the resolution. Imran Khan became the first Pakistan PM to lose the trust vote. Ahead of the no-confidence motion voting in the parliament, the National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser, and Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri had resigned from their posts. Pakistan Attorney General, Khalid Javed Khan also resigned from the post. Principal Secretary to Pakistan Prime Minister, Azam Khan was also removed from office and now has been transferred to Establishment Division.

Shehbaz Sharif began his political career in 1988 when he got elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in the general election. In 1999, Shehbaz and his family were forced into years of self-exile in Saudi Arabia. He returned to Pakistan in 2007.

Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif is likely to take over the charge of the next Prime Minister of Pakistan after Imran Khan lost the no-confidence motion on Saturday. Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was shown the doors with 174 votes in favour of the no-confidence motion.

Coincidentally, no Prime Minister in the country has completed their five-year term in office and Imran Khan is the latest one to be added to the list. Now, all eyes are on Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party who is likely to hold the charge of the position.

Shehbaz Sharif’s Political Career

Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of three-time former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif. In 1990, he was elected to the National Assembly. Following the 1999 military coup, both Shahbaz and Nawaz were forced to flee to Saudi Arabia for several years. Shehbaz Sharif has been charged with corruption, just like his elder brother.

He returned to Pakistan in 2007, and was nominated for PML-N president in 2017, but was barred from taking office after Nawaz Sharif was found guilty of hiding assets connected to the Panama Papers.

In 2018, he was nominated for the office of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly after he lost elections to Imran Khan.

Why is Shehbaz Sharif called Man of Action?

During his three years as Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, he has collaborated extensively with China on Beijing-funded economic projects as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) plan. For this, he has earned appreciation from Chinese authorities on multiple occasions for being a man of action.

Shehbaz Sharif is recognized for his can-do administration style and friendly ties with Pakistan’s military, which holds the defense and foreign affairs sectors.

According to reports, outgoing Chinese consul general Long Dingbin referred to Sharif as an old friend of China while China Vice-Minister Zheng Xiaosong gave Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif the title of Shahbaz Speed for completing projects before schedule.

With Imran Khan losing the trust vote in the National Assembly on 9 April, Sharif said that we will not take revenge on anyone, we will not do injustice to anyone and we will not put anyone in jail, the law will take its own path. Justice will prevail in Pakistan.

Pakistan is going to form a new government after Prime Minister Imran Khan lost the majority in Parliament on March 30. Imran Khan lost the support of a prominent partner Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P).

In Pakistan’s Consitution, a leader or a party is elected by a majority of the lower house, also known as the national assembly, which includes 342 members. Out of 342, 172 votes are needed as a majority to be elected for a certain post or designation.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday said that Imran Khan has lost the majority in the National Assembly and Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif will soon be appointed as the next Prime Minister of the Islamic country.

Who is Shehbaz Sharif?
