Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut took a jibe at the BJP on Thursday saying a surgical strike should be conducted on China and Pakistan if there was information available of their involvement behind the farmers’ protests. Advising the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister and the armed forces chiefs, he said that they should discuss the issue seriously.

Raut was reacting to a remark by Minister of State Raosaheb Danve blaming China and Pakistan for the ongoing protests by farmers. Danve said on Wednesday that the ongoing agitation that is going on is not that of farmers but that China and Pakistan have a hand behind it. He had also said Muslims in the country were incited first. At a function in Maharashtra, Danve said Muslims were told that the NRC and CAA will force them to leave the country. Did a single Muslim leave, Danve asked.

Danve’s comments got sharp rebuttals from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee yesterday itself. Its president S Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the farmers’ protest has been peaceful and the government has failed to deliver justice. In a video message, he said that the farmers fight and die for the nation, grow food, and whose children too martyr themselves for the nation. Don’t try to paint them anti-national, Sirsa said.

The talks between the Centre and the protesting farmers have hit a stalemate after the farmers’ rejected the amendments proposed by the Centre. They have promised to intensify their agitation until the three farm laws are repealed.
