World Youth Skills Day is observed every year on July 15. The day focuses on the strategic importance of equipping youth with skills for employability, entrepreneurship and work. World Youth Skills Day highlights the important role played by skilled youth in addressing global challenges of the present and future.

In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to declare July 15 as World Youth Skills Day, with the aim of achieving better socio-economic conditions for today’s youth to address the challenges of unemployment and underemployment.

Since then, the World Youth Skills Day event has been a forum for dialogue between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, employers, firms and labour organisations, development partners and policymakers.
