In the latest development in Sonipat wrestler Nisha’s murder case, Delhi police on Friday arrested the main accused coach Pawan and his associate in connection with the killing of Nisha and her brother in Haryana’s Sonipat.

Earlier, the police were looking out for coach Pawan and his associates and the police even announced Rs 1 lakh reward on the information on the main accused Pawan, who was on the run. The mother of the wrestler even accused coach Pawan of harassing Nisha.

The shocking incident took place at a wrestling academy in Sonipat district on Wednesday. In the incident, some attackers opened fire on Nisha Dahiya and her brother and they were killed there, Nisha’s mother also suffered some injuries during the shootout.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the police arrested Pawan’s wife and his brother in law Amit from Rohtak as they were also present at the academy when Nisha and her brother were shot dead at the academy.

The medical officer Dr Jai Bhagwaan said that four bullets were recovered from Nisha’s body and three were recovered from her brother’s body.

The wrestler’s mother filed a complaint in which she said that the coach used to visit their house as her daughter regularly attended his wrestling academy.

In the complaint, the wrestler’s mother told the police that the accused used to sexually harass her daughter.

Coach Pawan Kumar was operating a franchise of wrestler Sushil Kumar’s academy in the village. It is reported that he allegedly shot the wrestler, her brother and later her mother. The siblings died at the spot, but their mother survived and is currently struggling for her life at Rohtak’s PGIMS.

In a shocking reminder of the gun-culture associated with Haryana, a student of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Haryana’s Sonepat district was shot at in the classroom by another student on Friday. The crime was recorded on the close-circuit television camera installed in the classroom, the leaked video of which has now gone viral on social media platforms.

The victim and the perpetrators are said to be around 17-18 years of age. The exact cause of the incident is still being examined and an old rivalry between the students involved has not been ruled out.

Police said a country made pistol was used in the shooting and the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital in Sonepat from where he was later transferred to the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak. The victim is currently under treatment while the police have launched a manhunt to nab the two boys seen fleeing from the scene of crime after the shooting.

News agency PTI quoted Rahul Dev, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sonepat as saying: “CCTV footage purportedly shows two boys approaching the victim from behind while he was chatting with other students in the classroom. One of the two boys then took out a pistol from his bag and shot the victim in the back.
