The Delhi police have arrested a 45-year-old man for killing a 45-year-old woman. The man poured acid on her face to hide the identity. The body of the woman went missing in South Delhi and was found in Noida on September 8. The body had acid burns on her body and face.

The accused is identified as Mohd Zakir who is a resident of Subhash Nagar. A senior police official said information regarding the missing woman was received at Ambedkar Nagar Police station on September 9 at 9.28 am. The complaint was made by Sanjay Kumar who is a resident of Madangir. He came to the police station and said his mother had been missing since Friday Morning. Sanjay said his mother had left home without informing anyone. He said he made several efforts to locate her but could not find her.

The SHO of knowledge park police station, Greater Noida received information regarding the discovery of a woman Pinki’s body in Knowledge Park. During the investigation it was known that the deceased was last seen around 3pm at her office at Nizamuddin Railway station. The woman worked as a clerk at Nizamuddin Railway station. The information was confirmed from her office that she was indeed present on September 8. She had left the office premises after 3pm.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandan Choudhary the team interviewed Sanjay Kumar and his family members in an effort to find her enemies. The police came to know in 2018-19, the woman had loaned Rs 11 lakhs to her colleague, Mohd Zakir who had not repaid the amount. As a result the woman remained stressed and had a conflict with Mohd Zakir. The DCP added on the basis of information provided by Zakir an acid bottle and a iron dagger which was used in the crime were found in Sector 148, Safipur, Greater Noida.

The festival of Navratri has grabbed headlines, especially in Delhi, Ghaziabad after state officials demanded to close meat shops during the nine-day festival. Meat shops will not be allowed to open from Tuesday during Navratri till April 11, South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Mukesh Suryan said.

Speaking with NDTV, the mayor said that the move was taken following complaints and does not violate anyone’s personal liberty.

This is the first time when the civic body has been asked to close the meat shops that come under its jurisdiction during Navratri which is being observed from April 2-11. An official order in this connection is yet to be issued.

As soon as the SDMC mayor’s statement went viral on social media, tweeple have started debating on the meat ban issue. Some users have also started demanding to ban liquor during Ramzan while others were asking that SDMC will ban onion and garlic too for 9 days?

Liquor hurt my religious sentiments can u have the guts to ban it for one month. Mard bano apne dam par faisle lo, a user wrote. BJP leaders must not forget that majority of the Indians including Hindus are non-vegetarians, another user also wrote.

A user hilariously tweeted that 90% of Muslims don’t consume water and food almost for 13 hours a day during Ramadan, 30 days. So, water and food supplies in Delhi must be cut off, as it would hurt their religious sentiments, the user wrote in his tweet.

If that’s the issue, remove the stock of onions and garlic from the market as well during Navratri. And, if such logic has ground, give an order to shut all food shops during the Ramzan fasting period, as it may tempt the fast observing people. Sounds illogical right?, another user wrote.

India is observing the nine-day festival of Chaitra Navratri during which devotees avoid consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol and tobacco. Instead, they fast and consume light food cooked without onion and garlic.
