Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Rinku Singh has become an internet sensation after his heroic knock of consecutive five sixes in the last over of the KKR vs GT match in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

With talks of Singh’s performance all over social media, Shreyas Iyer, the injured captain, gave a video call to him and applauded him for his smashing performance.

A video of their face time is doing rounds on the internet and is winning the hearts of cricketer lovers across the globe. In the video, Iyer can be heard saying, Long Live Rinku. Further, KKR’s IPL season 2023 captain Nitish Rana joined the conversation asking if Iyer watched the innings. He then said Rinki won’t miss it like last year and will finish the game.

Rana also said the team misses him.

Iyer couldn’t stop hailing Singh and said he got goosebumps seeing him knocking five sixes consecutively. The viral video was shared by KKR’s official Twitter handle with the caption, ‘Special video from Shreya, Iss baar khatam karke aaunga!’

Shreyas Iyer ruled out of IPL 2023 due to back injury

The middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2023 due to surgery for a recurring lower-back injury.

The 28-year-old cricketer has been dealing with back issues for quite some time and had also missed the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23. He also missed the three-match ODI series against Australia.

Apart from the ILP 2023, Iyer has also been ruled out from the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia at The Oval in London. Given Iyer’s health, Nitish Rana was appointed as KKR’s interim captain. Further, Iyer will remain out of action till the June end. Reportedly, he aims to return to the pitch before Asia Cup 2023.

The pair got a walkover in the quarterfinal match.

The Indian pair defeated Uruguay and Japanese pair of Ariel Behar and Makato Ninomiya by 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) to reach the quarterfinals.

Sania-Rohan could not maintain rhythm in the final

Sania and Rohan Bopanna lost only one set before the final match in this tournament. In the semi-final match, the pair faced a narrow one-set defeat. The pair was out of touch in the final match and lost in straight sets to win the title. Meanwhile, the men’s doubles pair of Bopanna and Matthew Ebden were bowed out in the first round. Sania and Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina were ousted in the second round of women’s doubles.

Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from IPL. Kieron Pollard’s performance in the recent seasons of IPL has also been very poor. He was a complete flop last season of Indian Premiere League as he scored 144 runs at an average of 14.40.

IPL 2010 Mega Auction, Mumbai Indians bought Pollard and included him in his team. Since then, he has been associated with Nita Ambani owned franchise. For the unversed, this year Pollard had announced his retirement from T20 International as well.

Pollard, one of the legendary players of Indian Premiere League has played 189 matches in his IPL career, scoring 3412 runs, including 16 half-centuries. Pollard scored runs in IPL with an average of 28.67 and also has 69 IPL wickets in his name.

On his retirement from IPL, Pollard said that It was not the easiest decision to make as he will continue to play for a few more years, but he thinks it has been an incredible franchise that has achieved so much and it needs a change now.

He also appreciated the owners Mukesh, Nita and Akash Ambani for their tremendous love, support and respect. He remember the first meeting when they welcomed Pollard into the franchise with outstretched arms and said, “We are a family”.

However, Pollards good bye is just to the MI playing XI as he has taken over the duties of the batting coach of Mumbai Indians. The franchise is not yet ready to leave the West Indies all-rounder and are ready to have him in nay capacity. On the other hand AB de Villiers will also join RCB, but not as the batsmen but as the new batting coach.

Suresh Raina, who went unsold at the IPL 2022 mega auction, will be seen in a commentator’s role with former India team coach Ravi Shastri in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League which is scheduled to start from March 26 in India.

There were rumours that Raina and Shastri are going to join the IPL 2022 as commentators but the news was confirmed by the host broadcaster Star Sports on Tuesday.

Despite an impressive IPL record, Raina went unsold at the IPL 2022 mega auction and no team has shown interest to sign Mr. IPL in the mega auction of IPL 2022.

In the first match of the 15th edition of IPL, the previous year’s winner, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the runner-up, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will lock horns with each other on March 26.

Disney Star Networks, which has the broadcasting IPL rights, has announced a list of 80 commentators.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri will join the commentator’s panel for the first time in seven years. Meanwhile, Suresh Raina, who did not find any bidder for his name during the IPL 2022 mega auction, will make a commentary debut in the upcoming season of the IPL.  

The IPL 2022 will be broadcast in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam and Bengali.

Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 2011 ICC World took to his social media to make his decision public on March 9.

Sreesanth took to his official Twitter handle and wrote that Wednesday was a difficult day for him but it was also a day of reflection and gratitude. He said that playing for ECC, Ernakulam district, varies diff. League and tournament teams, Kerala state cricket association, BCCI, Warwickshire county cricket team, Indian airlines cricket team, BCCI, and ICC has been a tremendous honor for him.

He added that during his 25 years career as a cricket player, he always pursued success and winning cricket games, while preparing and training with the highest standards of competition, passion and perseverance. He shared that it is an honour for him to represent his family, his teammates, the people of India, and everyone who loves the game.

He further announced that with much sadness but without regret, he is retiring from Indian domestic cricket, including first class and all other formats.

Sreesanth concluded his tweets by saying that he has chosen to end his first-class cricket career for the next generation of cricketers. He added that the decision is his alone and although he knows that it will not bring him happiness, it is the right and honourable action to take at this time of his life. He said that he cherished every moment.
