A video showing apathy of the officials in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district is making rounds on social media.

In the viral video, the convoy of the District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Sitapur district are seen passing by through the Jahangirabad square. An e-rickshaw, full with passengers, approaches from the other side.

The driver of the e-rickshaw, so that he does not come in the way of top officials, changes its way and the e-rickshaw overturns in the potholed road. The pits in the video are seen filled with the rainwater. The passengers too fall down in the dirty water but the officials instead of helping the needy turn a blind eye towards them and the convoy passes away. Among those in the e-rickshaw were women and little children.

The incident is reported to have happened on Monday afternoon. The commuters are already troubled by the potholed roads. The eyewitnesses say that the District Magistrate and the SSP were returning from an inspection of a flood-hit area and had reached the Jahangirabad junction. An e-rickshaw that was approaching the Reusa area came head-to-head with the convoy and tried to change its direction.

Unfortunately, the condition of the road was so poor that as soon as the e-rickshaw driver tried to change the lane, the vehicle overturned along with the passengers.

The passengers are seen getting squished under the vehicle but not even a single car from the convoy stops to offer help. Then, the people around are seen rushing to the spot and lifting up the vehicle and passengers. A woman and her child have suffered minor injuries, reports said.

The locals were enraged after the incident as they say that the authorities have been complained of the poor condition of the roads many times but in vain. Now, after watching the accident happening before their eyes, the locals expected them to stop and help. Least they can do is repair a road, an eyewitness said, said the reports.
