The Delhi Court on Monday granted bail to the main accused of Bulli Bai app 21-year-old Niraj Bishnoi and Sulli Deals app creator Omkareshwar Thakur on humanitarian grounds.

The court determined that the accused are first-time offenders and that their continued detention would adversely affect their overall wellbeing. According to the order tight restrictions have been put on them, including that they cannot intimidate any witness or meddle with any evidence.

According to the order, the accused would submit his contact information to the investigating officer, keep his phone turned on, and provide his location to the investigating police. It went on to say that the accused would not flee the country, would show up in court on all scheduled dates, and would not commit another crime while on bail.

However, people are not favouring the court’s decision of giving bail to the accused on such grounds. One of the users wrote 18-year-olds can vote and decide the fate of the country, but two 21-year-olds are chintu mintu babies. The state of the law in this country is laughable.

They won’t call a rapist, a rapist because he raped for the first time, and punishing him will ruin his career as a young harasser of Muslim women. For them, saving a Hindu accused is more important than protecting the dignity of Muslim women, said another.

Journalist Rana Ayyub questioned the court’s decision and tweeted that was he (accused) smiling when he auctioned Muslim women? Oh, it must be the Hindu privilege? The accused is a first-time offender, says the Delhi court. And our student activists advocating peace and equality must be hardened criminals? he added.

On the court’s ideology of going bail to the accused on a humanitarian basis, Health and Safety specialist Khurram Sajjad said the accused is so cute baby that he doesn’t understand how to make App to sell Muslim girls online.

Both apps were created on the GitHub platform. Sulli Deals was founded in July 2021, while Bulli Bai became public on January 1, 2022. Bishnoi was charged with creating the ‘Bulli Bai’ app, while Thakur was charged with ‘Sulli Deals.’

Two days after four masterminds behind the Bulli Bai application were arrested, Delhi Police has now detained the mastermind of the Sulli Deals app that created controversy in July 2021.

Reportedly, the accused Aumkareshwar Thakur was nabbed by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police from Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He confessed that he had created the Sulli Deals app on GitHub wherein pictures of several Muslim women were used without their consent and listed for virtual auction.

The reports also said that police identified Thakur through the inputs they discovered while questioning Bulli Bai application creator Niraj Bishnoi.

Who is Aumkareshwar Thakur?

According to DCP KPS Malhotra, Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO), Delhi Police Special Cell, Aumkareshwar Thakur is the son of Akhilesh Thakur. Born on January 17, 1996, and has completed his bachelors in Computer Administration from IPS Academy, Indore.

During the investigation, Thakur admitted that he was a member of a trad-group on Twitter and the idea of the Sulli Deals application aimed to defame Muslim women. Following the discussion on the group, he developed the code on GitHub and all members had access to GitHub.

He further revealed that the app was also shared by him on Twitter where the members of the group uploaded pictures of Muslim women.

Last week, a similar application Bulli Bai created a massive controversy on social media. This app too uploaded pictures of influential Muslim women including journalists, students, doctors, public figures, and others without their consent and listed them for auction by using derogatory tags.

The four masterminds behind the application Vishal Kumar Jha, Shweta Singh, Mayank Rawat, and Niraj Bishnoi has been detained by the Cyber Crime Cell of Delhi and Mumbai Police so far. The fourth arrest Niraj Bishnoi on Sunday, January 9 tried to harm himself during the interrogation.

Six months after derogatory, the “Sulli Deals” site surfaced a new conspiracy, targeting the women of other religions. A photo of a female journalist, social workers, students, and famous personalities was uploaded by an identified group on GitHub, named “Sulli Deals.” They mentioned them as ‘Bulli Bai’.”Sulli’ is a disparaging term used to refer to Muslim women, while ‘Bulli’ is a spin term used for the word ‘Sulli.’ Such acts clearly depict the chauvinism against Muslim women.

As soon as the news went viral, Delhi police immediately took action against it. They have asked the concerned officials to look into the matter and take possible actions against it. Last year, two FIRs were also filed by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in ‘Sulli Deals’ disputation as the photographs of Muslim women were misused, but no consolidated action has been taken so far.

A female journalist had expressed her concern about the matter. She tweeted that she was very sad to hear that Muslim women had to start their new year with a sense of fear and disgust. She is not the only one who is being targeted in the ‘Sulli Deals’, but also her friend is being involved. She received a screenshot of her friend in the morning who is also being victimized.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, a politician

MP of Rajya Sabha, Priyanka Chaturvedi had also conveyed her thoughts for Muslim women and ‘Bulli Balli’. She demanded that the culprits should be punished and arrested as soon as possible. She tweeted that she had repeatedly asked the Honourable IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav to take serious action against the matter that targets the Muslim women through Sulli deals platforms. It is so shameful that it is still being ignored.

Kishanganj’s MP, Dr. Md Jawaid also request Hon. Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah to take actions against Sulli Deals’ peparators along with w56 MPs. Now, a new surface named ‘Bulli Bai’ is being surfaced, a replica of Sulli Deals. He said that he should take immediate action on both of these platforms.

An author, Hussain Haidry is also not far behind to express his anxiety against ‘Sulli Deals 2.0.’ He said that about 100 Muslim women having a strong vocal presence on Twitter, identified with their handles, their photographs were forwarded as ‘Bulli Bai.’ It is Sulli Deals 2.0, but it is worse as it shows encouragement after the last case which went unpunished.

Reacting to the matter, the Mumbai Police said that they have taken apprehension of the matter. The concerned officials will be taking action for the same. Also, cyber police have initiated a scrutiny with the objectionable content of Sulli Deals 2.0

Earlier in July, a similar incident happened when an unidentified group of people used GitHub to create an app Sulli Deals, where they used photos of Muslim women and listed them for auction.

The app named Bulli Bai was found uploading and auctioning pictures of Muslim women, sourced from their social media accounts. However, the app was taken down following massive outrage on social media.
On January 1, 2022, a woman journalist shared an image of her being auctioned on the Bulli Bai app as ‘deal of the day. She took her Twitter to show her anger and said, it’s very sad that as a Muslim woman she has to start her new year with this sense of fear and disgust.

After her complaint, many other women claimed the same. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi taking a serious to this incident said that she repeatedly asked the Union Information & Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to take strong action against such incidents, targeting Muslim women through such disgusting platforms.
However, Delhi Police on Sunday a day after the complaint registered an FIR in the Cyber police station of the South-East District.

After the massive outrage on social media, the Microsoft owned software sharing platform GitHub took down the app, this platform allows anyone to upload an in-development app.

Earlier in July when an unidentified group had created a similar platform Sulli Deals, no concrete actions were taken by the police against the convicts, despite two FIRs filed, one in Delhi and another in Uttar Pradesh.

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi had written a letter to the Centre to take the matter seriously and find the culprits, but there were no arrests and any serious attempt by the police to look for the convicts.
